Last day here after 2 weeks- leaving tomorrow. Everything is just like the website claims. No issues of any kind. Had no need of fireplace or air conditioners as the weather was just perfect. Place can sleep a larger group but was very enjoyable for just the two of us. Location is a great place to jump off any direction for exploring downeast Maine. No hassle of crowds like Bar Harbor and not too far if one wishes to see the attractions of Bar Harbor. (We only spent a few hours there and had lunch at Gaylyns near the port) Blueberry festival in Machias was most entertaining. Not to miss is Campobello, where Franklin Roosevelt spent part of his boyhood and early years of marriage. about 1and 1/2 hours away. Bring passport as it is in New Brunswick Of course Acadia is wonderful. Lots to do there. Be sure to visit Jordans Pond and enjoy the popovers-fantastic! Also the Schoodic part of Acadia is a great place to visit. Best meal we had was at Trenton Bridges Lobster pound although we never really had an unpleasant meal experience. We liked Winter Harbor and visited nearly all the shops. We recommend this place highly.

PERFECT SPOT!

5 of 5
Four years ago, my husband and I came to this spot for our first vacation together. This past July (3 weeks ago) we came back for our honeymoon because it is such a magical place and means so much to us. Bonnie and Chubba go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and what you hope it will be. Bonnie is constantly updating the guest binder with things to do and places to see. You are encouraged to use their canoes and kayaks to explore the surrounding area. The cottage itself is right on the water, comfortable, clean, fully stocked, and well-maintained. Getting lobsters from their crate attached to their dock is a highlight; we ate lobster almost every day! There is a ton to do; hiking, camping, shopping in unique stores, and wildlife to find. If you're lucky, Chubba will take you out for a sail or boat ride in the bay. This truly is an amazing place to get away from it all and enjoy nature, good food, and good people. We can't wait to go back.

Great stay!

Great location, close to Acadia and local attractions, but private enough to be off the beaten path. House is new, but a work in progress, definitely will return for the next trip. Fireplace is wood burning, hot tub is comfortable. Basement is a work in progress, and I would recommend window treatments in living room/kitchen (blinds for deck door) and upstairs bedroom. A/C upstairs worked well, but the rest of the house did get hot in the afternoon with the sun. Given time and love, this will be a true gem to return to again and again.
