Lots of amenities!!

5 of 5
Every year three couples take a fall trip and this year we chose Maine. Looking on VRBO for a place to stay we found this wonderful very roomy place, from the beginning, Doris was very easy to work with. We got in after dark and was kind of hard to navigate but we found it and was very much surprised to find out how big it was. All the rooms on main floor are very roomy. The next morning we woke up to beautiful views overlooking the inlet. We got to enjoy fall foliage, pumpkin festival, boat ride, lobster dinners cooked at the house, fire in the fire pit on patio, full moon and bottles of wine and beer. The house is well equipped for everything you need, games and books included. All 3 couples agreed this was the most spacious place we have rented in our 20+ years of doing our fall trip. We would definitely recommend it to others. We all wanted to stay an extra week but had to get back. Thanks for sharing your Beautiful Home with us.

A little slice of paradise!

I've vacationed in Maine many many times. This was the first time I stayed on Back River Bend and I will be back. I can't tell you how many times one of us said " this place is perfect". It was so quiet that at times the pine needles falling and hitting the leaves of other trees sounded like soft rain. Wildlife abounds, during the course of our stay we spotted a bald eagle, a seal, whitetail deer, loons, other diving water birds and many other animals, all from the serenity of the screen porch. Georgetown Island is centrally located about mid coast Maine. Making it an ideal location for our day trips via motorcycle. By far my favorite day of our stay was spent on the island. There is plenty to do without leaving the quiet of Georgetown. There are two lighthouses on the island, the light at Squirrel Point is a pleasant hike from the dirt road, a definite hidden gem. The Restaurant at Robinhood is delicious and the prettiest view you can imagine. Reid State Park is a gem, the proprietor at Back River Bend supplied a state park pass that gets you into the parks for free. The village of Five Islands is so charming as is the Five Islands Lobster Company restaurant, with delicious fresh seafood and ice cream. Georgetown Pottery is worth a stop for a memento of your stay. Being we were on motorcycles we didn't have room to take our purchases with us but they shipped them for us for a small fee. We could have spent a few days just exploring Georgetown Island. Plenty of Maine tourist attractions are within a short drive. The cabin is very clean and comfortable. A great place for two. Soooooo, peaceful and quiet! We had one minor problem with the stove but it was fixed promptly. There is a working marina on the property which is a good way to observe a real taste of Maine. The docks and trails on the property are all accessible to guests and provide plenty of photo opportunities. Ruth and Sam are very friendly, but also are polite enough to allow you to enjoy your solitude if you like. Whether you're looking for a base from which to enjoy all of mid coast Maine's popular attractions or you're looking for a place to relax and unwind in quiet solitude, Back River Bend is perfect! My only complaint about my stay at Sasanoa Cottage is that I had to leave! Thanks so much to our hosts for sharing this little slice of paradise. We'll be back!

Relaxing!

5 of 5
This place has it all! The house was furnished very comfortably inside. There is plenty of room with three separate areas to gather with family and friends. The place was immaculate both inside and out. The kitchen has all the amenities. The Adirondack chairs outside provides comfort while watching the wildlife. The location couldn't be better. Just a few minutes to get off the island and on to our destinations; dining in Bath, a short drive to Boothbay Harbor, shopping in Camden, L.L. Bean, and the outlets in Freeport! We went to Reid State Park which has an awesome beach. (By the way, the Georgetown General Store two minutes away has great prices on fresh lobster and lobster rolls). The house is very secluded because the back yard is the Audubon Bird Sanctuary and front is water inlet for privacy. If you need a place to get away from it all this is it. The owners were awesome to deal with and quickly responded to our questions. It is obvious they take great pride in the property and value their guests. You won’t be disappointed. We had an awesome stay I can't wait to come back.
