This is our second year staying at the Guest House. If you want privacy, quiet, water and woods, then the Guest House is a perfect retreat for your vacation. Here you will find woods on 3 sides and a few yards away from the front door the cove with a beautiful deck to sit, relax & enjoy the water close up. Fish from the dock, take out one of the furnished kayaks or canoe, have your morning coffee or just do nothing. The deck off the house will offer you a higher view of the cove, the occasional lobster boat making its rounds, a table to enjoy your meals and seating to do your contemplating. Suzanne has done a wonderful job furnishing the Guest House with period furniture that makes you feel welcome and comfortable. The kitchen is furnished with all you need to make your meals, including a lobster pot (lobster $3.75 lb. at Creamers). The living area is the perfect place to sit, relax, read and view the outdoors through the sliding glass doors. The bedroom makes you feel warm and cozy. We are not into the t-shirt shops or tourist traps and have found for enjoyment: Sweetgrass winery, Thomaston Cafe, the state Pen store for hand-made souveniers, Bet's fish shack, and pizza at the local pizza shop in Friendship. Another great stop is the Audubon Camp where they have several hiking trails, some along the water and boat dock. We had the pleasure of meeting Suzanne and Francesco, the owners. They were warm and gracious and made us feel very welcome. We very much recommend the Guest House for your next vacation to Maine coast. Dan and Kathy Pittsburgh, PA

This was an amazing vacation, and a beautiful home. It was exactly what our family needed on our vacation. The deck is amazing just like the pic. The people of this small little town of "Friendship" were so friendly/nice. We took daily walks to the lake, and bought fresh lobster at the pier. The owners were extremely helpful and easy to deal with. Thank you....Maynard, upstate NY

We LOVED our stay in this wonderful cottage with its view from the terrific back porch down to Crystal Pond, the easy 5 minute walk to a quiet rocky beach & its mere steps away from the always fascinating Hatchet Cove. Just across the small road you can sit at the owner's deck on the cove enjoying the breeze or toasting the moon's sparkling path across the night sea. A beautiful setting among tall trees, ferns and mosses surrounds a well equipped and most welcoming cottage. The kitchen has all you need to steam a local lobster with all the fixings, or simply heat up a fresh fish sandwich from the great little town grocery. The cottage is sparkling clean and decorated with authentic Maine touches. The owners have anticipated your every need and the cottage has maps, guidebooks and pamphlets so you can plan visits to nearby areas like Camden, Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid lighthouse, Mt. Battie and so much more. Nearby are wonderful restaurants, fun shopping, quaint old homes and beautiful drives. A quick Google search will provide long lists of interesting things to do and experience in the area...ferry boat rides to nearby islands; kyaking the bay, lighthouse museums. Friendship is a true lobster/fishing village with many families who can trace their lineage right back to settlement days. For a small town we were amazed at all the local activities available: festivals, music evenings, art & craft events, sail boat races, farm produce sales, etc. Lynn and Bill are helpful and will be sure that you find something that meets your interests if you wish. They are always nearby for assistance but will give you privacy and quiet time if you prefer. The cottage is perfect for stress free, quiet days or as a base to explore this beautiful area. We did use the excellent WiFi service in the cottage, and on lazy days sometimes watched the televisions in the living area and on the wonderful back porch. It would be hard to say what our favorite things were about our stay in this delightful cottage, but I think our daily walk to the beach where we enjoyed the ocean breeze and our time on the back porch where we could enjoy the sparkling water of Crystal Pond were at the top of our list. Be sure to bring your binoculars so you can check out the sail boats, islands and wildlife. Maybe you'll be lucky,, as we were, to see Wood Ducks with groups of small baby ducks scooting alongside in the pond. You will love your time in this very special cottage!
