Lovely Maine Coast Home

5 of 5
The property is beautiful as shown in the photos. The home is clean, well-maintained, very interesting, and comfortable. We had an issue with smoke alarms going off randomly and the owners were readily available and very helpful in resolving that. I think it should be noted somewhere that the kitchen is on the lower level and living room is on the second level. It seems that it might be a great arrangement with kids coming in and out, but we had some older adults and that meant having to go up and down stairs - not a problem, just something to be aware of. We had a great stay and I would be happy to recommend the property to anyone.

Blended Family Vacation

5 of 5
Our family tries to vacation together every few years and this year was an exceptional challenge with the addition of four children ages 3 and under and extended family members who wanted to join in the fun. Looking for a place to accommodated 20 family members from ages 85 to 1 was daunting. McGee Island was the jewel that we were looking for. The owners were wonderful to work with and answered our many questions cheerfully and promptly. On McGee, there was something to do for all ages. Daytime was full of island adventures and the evenings were spent in the Main House living room where we enjoyed drinking wine, laughing, deep conversation and for some, a late nite ping pong game on the huge porch! One rainy day, in the middle of our week, was a surprisingly welcomed, relaxing day spent in front of a comfy fire. Joe, the caretaker of McGee, was always accomodating especially since it seemed that we always had someone coming or going from the island. He was helpful, always available but never intrusive. If you are looking for a place to relax, reconnect and have a great time on an era gone by family vacation this is the right spot!! McGee Island is for you!

What an absolute gem!

5 of 5
This cottage is a perfect blend of antique charm and brand new, luxury accommodations. We never wanted to leave the house as it's location is one of complete serenity and peacefulness. I can not wait to go back and would love to experience this home - and unspoiled part of Maine - in all seasons. The home is spotlessly clean and very well-appointed with all the supplies you will need for your stay. The owner is communicative and extremely helpful in answering any questions you may have. Nearby Rockland is quite adorable and has many nice shops and restaurants. But seriously, you won't want to leave the cottage.
