Relaxing Moments

5 of 5
Two very busy ER nurses with their ever patient husbands embarked on the "bucket list" adventure. Sitting in the morning, looking out those magnificent large windows, with a cup of hot cocoa...can one ask for more? It was wonderful! Thanks

Perfection in Paradise!!!

5 of 5
This property is nothing short of amazing! We (my husband & I with our 2 sons & a friend, ages 21, 22, 24) had a fantastic time! The home is beautiful & everything is well maintained. The details/special touches took the property over the top: swirly chimneys, gorgeous woodworking on doors & inlaid floors, outdoor fireplace, a "moat", beautiful stone fireplaces, hand carved kitchen island, copper sinks, professional stove, awesome front door, incredible master bath-the list goes on! I even hoped it would rain so I could see the unique downspouts in action! (Got my wish, too!) Having inlaw quarters over the garage worked well for us, allowing the younger adults some space/privacy, with the main house for family time together & meals. Marilyn, the property manager, was easy to work with & readily available for questions/issues. We were thrilled with the location-close to Ellsworth for groceries (great breakfasts @ Riverside Café!), close enough to Bar Harbor & Acadia but able to enjoy a short, scenic drive there, yet remote enough without feeling isolated. Dinner at The Chart Room was fantastic! Our older son ended up actually ordering 2 entrees because it was so good! We highly recommend the Lulu Lobster Boat Tour-informative, family run, & points out many area highlights (seals, light houses, an eagle's nest, how to trap lobsters, etc.) BTW - lobsters have 0 cholesterol! We fished & kayaked on Patten Pond, had morning coffee on the dock, saw eagles fishing & the biggest spider I've ever seen! We had a fire every evening on the covered deck, toured Blue Hill, & enjoyed some time at nearby Toddy Pond (the best stocked fishing spot). A trip to the top of Cadillac Mountain, to Thunder Hole, & Sand Beach are a must-so pretty! I loved going back to the house in the evening to cook dinner in that fantastic kitchen! We had great food, some local wine & beer from our "tour" at Penobscot Bay Brewery, great company, many laughs, & many moments spent in awe & listening to the loons! Funny...we couldn't figure out the TV works, despite seemingly thorough instructions, but barely even cared - there was so much else to see & do. Our only critique would be to screen the deck in. Mosquitos are ruthless! We kept a can of Cutter in the car & near every door for constant protection-it became our scent of choice! It was a GREAT vacation that made going home very difficult. But, even after a 10-hr. drive home, we still felt rested & relaxed. Can't wait to go back!

True to the description,only better!

5 of 5
We just returned from our week at "Out to Camp". The house is beautifully maintained and true to the description on vrbo. We were a group of 7 adults and 2 children. We had plenty of private space for all. My husband and I slept in the "daylight basement" with our twin 6 year old boys. There was plenty of space for us and all our stuff. The adjacent game room and walk out was perfect for the boys. The master bedroom and loft was used by my in-laws and sister in-law. There was plenty of space upstairs. All the rooms were spacious. The loft had a futon for sleeping, but proved to be too uncomfortable for sister in-law. The main floor bedroom, entry Hall, kitchen and dining was spacious and well equipped. The first floor bathroom was large enough for us to share. The outside deck had brand new flooring and railings. With a nice breeze we were able to sit outside each evening and watch the boys swimming in the pond. We grilled most nights and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. This was our first trip to Acadia. We were 30 minutes or so to the park at "Out to Camp". The road to and from was an easy drive past restaurants, shopping, etc. this made the location just fine, as we needed to get these services coming and going each day we ventured out. This home is fantastic for a relaxing retreat in a beautiful, private setting.
