When we arrived here, I immediately felt right at home. When we (sadly) left, I felt like I was leaving home. The photograpsh on the site don't do it justice. It's so much better than what you see in them! The home is warm and inviting, tastefully decorated, very functional, and comfortable. This Log Home was built in 1930, but you'd never know it to look at it. The only give away as to its age is the phenomenal quality of the construction. It was built by true craftsmen of the time, not someone like you’ll see today, with a hammer who called himself a “carpenter”. It's been very well maintained and is in terrific shape. The decorations are homey, tasteful, and remind you of where you are – Maine! The mattresses are fairly new and quite comfortable. The same goes for all the furniture – very comfortable, functional, and new. The view of the Bay is priceless, as is the terrific ocean breezes you get, which keep you cool and comfortable, no matter the outside temperature.
Our favorite part was unquestionably the free boat tour the owner provides. It was so much fun that it defies a worthy description as to how good it really is! We brought some of our own pillows, which it turns out weren’t necessary, since there are extras in the closet. Another plus is that the neighbors are very friendly and helpful.
The house is also conveniently located to many local attractions and shopping. You can walk to a local General Store in about fifteen minutes, and a major grocery store (Hannaford’s) is only a five minute drive away, as is a little strip mall, with a couple of banks, a pizza shop, and a few other stores, including a Radio Shack! Boothbay Harbor is only about ten –fifteen minutes away, as is Ocean Point (which is a must visit), which makes for great walks along the rocky shoreline.
The owner also lives nearby and is available for anything you might need or questions you may have about the area.
Being near Boothbay Harbor, there are tons of places to eat, but one of my favorites is the Tug Boat Inn and Restaurant, located right on the harbor. It has indoor and outdoor seating, a nice menu, and a terrific bar.
If you’re coming to the Boothbay area, stay here. If not for the view, you’ll think you’re in your own comfy home.
