We chose this property because of its location, cost, and cleanliness. The photos, descriptions, and amenities listed in the ad are accurate. The owners did a very nice renovation. The appliances, linens, dishes, and cookware are new- not family hand-me-downs from the '70s. The cabin is well appointed with the common creature comforts. We didn't feel the cabin was lacking any appliances or utensils.
The property was well maintained. We enjoyed spending our mornings watching a pair of bald eagles and combing the beach. The kids enjoyed hunting for sand crab, hermit crabs, and baby lobsters. We saw deer tracks in the sand, but not the deer.
The cottage was our coastal downeast base camp. At Robertson Sea Tours, we followed a pair of humpback whales bigger than the boat! We visited Acadia NP (x3), Lebec, ME (easternmost point in the US), and Rogue Cliffs state park. Hint: skip sand beach and the crowds at Acadia and go to Rogue Cliffs. We hiked Pigeon Hill and the trails at Petit Manan. We had an excellent, relaxing vacation.
I chose to award four stars instead of five. Why? The backyard area is lacking proper seating to spend a lot of time enjoying the outdoors. The property has folding steel-frame w/ fabric seats. There are a few seats and one lounge chair. The chairs are adequate for a brief sit, but not comfortable to where you would spend an afternoon in them while reading a book. Plastic Adirondack chairs would have been much appreciated and used.
