WOW!

5 of 5
First off the cottage was awesome, the sunrises were beyond amazing and Catherine is a champ when it comes to great customer service. We arrived just after Hurricane Arthur had made a visit. The power was out at the cabin and Catherine made an appearance to check on us and make sure we wanted to stay without power or make other arrangements. We stayed and the power was back on later that night. Catherine goes the extra mile to welcome her guests with personalized treats such as the best chocolate cupcake ever made, with candles, for my 50th birthday. The sun rises early in Lubec and it is beautiful. I have pictures of every morning. The cottage is the cleanest rental I have ever stayed in. The decks are wonderful to sit and watch the sunrise or watch an occasional person stroll along the sandbar. Lubec is a friendly town with plenty of fabulous places to eat. The ice cream shop is a favorite of mine. We enjoyed a great church service at the Christian Temple Church and met some really nice folks. I could have stayed until October. The locals tell me that October is when it gets cold and being from Texas I am not sure that I could function in the Maine winter season but I could definitely enjoy living in Maine for the summer, especially in Lubec. This trip had been on my bucket list for 20+ years. I wanted to see, hear and feel the ocean, watch the sun rise over it, see the whales, see a moose and visit the lighthouses. I accomplished all of these, except seeing a moose, in the first full day of our visit. For the remainder of the week, I just kept repeating the process. With that being said, all I can say is, "Wow!" Thanks Catherine for all your help in making my dream come true. Lori

A JEWEL OF A LOCATION

5 of 5
We just loved it- everything! Salt Pond is beautiful - bring binoculars and look for the eagles and warblers and blue heron! The apartment was immaculate with so many special touches - comfortable and colorful. It was thoughtfully decorated. The Blue Hill area is lovely with many places to explore and full of talented artists and artisans. Spectacular Acadia is a short drive away, but it was oh-so-nice to get back to our serene getaway in Blue Hill! Many thanks to Wendy and Ken for sharing offering this opportunity to get to know this area of the coast. They were so responsive to our questions, etc. from the beginning and made our first experience with Home Away a real 5 star plus experience!

A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

5 of 5
My husband and I stayed in this Blue Hill apartment from 6/5/14 to 6/21/14. It is a wonderful location for day trips to Acadia National Park, the Blue HIll Heritage Trails, Camden, Bar Harbour and the many charming towns on the peninsula. It was a real pleasure to return to the apartment each day not only for its comfort but also for its aesthetics. We were impressed with the craftsmanship of the remodeling of the apartment and the decor. The photos truly depict the space. The Hikades quickly responded when we had questions. The Arborvine restaurant and the Brew Pub, across the parking lot were so convenient for dinner. Both offer excellent food and great service. Also, the Barncastle restaurant offered excellent food in a casual atmosphere. The supermarket nearby had everything one needed for eating in. We also liked the two deli type restaurants in town. Check on concerts offered at the Congregational Church across the street. We went to one offered by four of the voice faculty from the University of Maine. A very nice evening. Also check on what might be offered at the Grand Theatre in Ellsworth. We watched John and his sons putting on the finishing touches on the tasting room of their brewery. Unfortunately, we had to leave before the grand opening. Without reservation, I would recommend this VRBO. I hope to return to do the same things we did this trip but in the autumn of the year. This is where I would stay again.
