A JEWEL OF A LOCATION

5 of 5
We just loved it- everything! Salt Pond is beautiful - bring binoculars and look for the eagles and warblers and blue heron! The apartment was immaculate with so many special touches - comfortable and colorful. It was thoughtfully decorated. The Blue Hill area is lovely with many places to explore and full of talented artists and artisans. Spectacular Acadia is a short drive away, but it was oh-so-nice to get back to our serene getaway in Blue Hill! Many thanks to Wendy and Ken for sharing offering this opportunity to get to know this area of the coast. They were so responsive to our questions, etc. from the beginning and made our first experience with Home Away a real 5 star plus experience!

A CHARMING, BEAUTIFULLY MAINTAINED COTTAGE.

5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Swan's Island. The location of the cottage is perfect - it is on one of the main roads that lead from the ferry and next door to the town hall, where we participated in the town's square dance and had a great, fun evening. We made many trips to the Lobster Coop, which is not too far down the road and sells lobster - so delicious, fresh and reasonably priced. The cottage is very comfortable as well as very nicely decorated. There is a very sweet little room (all wooden) that is detached from the house and sleeps two. Our two daughters slept there and loved it. The kitchen is very well stocked- there is a giant lobster pot and lobster accessories as well as an outdoor charcoal grill - both of which we made very good use of. We had fun exploring the Island and came across some hidden gems. Must sees are the Saturn Press which makes the most beautiful artisan greeting cards, all done on vintage letterpresses. They have a gift shop and the owners will gladly give you a tour. The White Sand beach is well worth a walk through the forest to get there but you will be rewarded with many sand dollars if you get there on a low tide. Overall we had a super relaxing, very nice time staying at the house and exploring the island. We'd love to go back for another visit!

GREAT HOUSE, BEAUTIFULLY KEPT

5 of 5
This was our 9th stay, and I can't imagine summer without our visit to Castine and this beautiful home! You can always tell homes that are kept "just for rental" versus those that are lovingly lived-in. This falls into the latter category, and it is homey and well-stocked. Andy and Lauren have new surprises for us each year, with regard to new furnishings and accommodations. They are very responsive in answering e-mails. We highly recommend this home, and are already looking forward to our trip next year.
