Beautiful Home with Gorgeous View!

5 of 5
I spent a glorious week in this beautiful home early last September! The house looks out across the ocean to views of Cadillac Mountain on Mount Desert Island. From the deck you can enjoy the view and the salt air, and watch for seabirds and seals in the cove. We even saw a bald eagle perched in one of the trees! You might see deer, too. The yard is very private and quiet, down a well-maintained dirt road with only two other homes. There are outdoor chairs in both the sun and the shade, and you can enjoy the beautiful flowers and shrubs. If you want to get out on the water, there are kayaks to use. You walk down a path to the rocky beach, and launch into the cove from there. You could swim in the cove, but the rocky entry is tricky, and Maine is not known for its warm ocean water! Also, there are lots of activities to do and historic things to see in nearby Acadia National Park. The house is absolutely beautiful inside, with tiled floors in the kitchen-dining-entry area and in the bathrooms. The rest of the house has lovely wood floors, and all of the woodwork and cabinetry are gorgeous. The living room has a stone fireplace and windows that soar two stories; at night you can watch the moon as it tracks across the top windows. The furniture is very comfortable. It is a great place to read or listen to music or play games or just stare out at the view. The den is also comfortable, with a flat screen TV. There are a limited number of local channels to watch, but if you have a smart phone with a WiFi hotspot you could connect it to the TV and stream videos. If you like to cook, this kitchen is for you! It has very modern appliances, and there are pots and pans and equipment to cook anything you want—if you don’t find it in the kitchen cabinets, check the pantry! It is a joy to be in the kitchen cooking…or to sit at the bar and watch someone else do the work! While there is a dishwasher, you may choose to handwash the dishes at the sink and enjoy the fantastic view! The two bedrooms upstairs each have a private bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed, the other has a full sized bed. The beds and the pillows are very comfortable. The ocean air is delightful at night, so the temperatures in the bedrooms are very comfortable for sleeping. All of the rooms in the house are decorated with lovely artwork and furnishings. It is fun to walk around looking at the one-of-a-kind objects. They make the home interesting, and peaceful.

Great combination of Peace & Fun!

5 of 5
What a find! Our trip ended down a little gravel road when we arrived at this beautiful house on a lake, where the silence was incredible. The house was not just clean-- it was perfectly furnished & beautiful & ready for us, with a bright & rustic Maine feel but also a lot of comfort & class. The kids loved the adventure of the pond-- swimming out to the swimming rock, making sand castles, taking family kayak trips across the lake to find the baby loon in the late afternoon, and building fairy houses. The grown-ups loved the comfort of the house-- early morning coffee on the screen porch, a good soak in the hot tub, and late afternoon cocktails on the porch that looks out on the water through the evergreens. We all loved picking blueberries for blueberry pie, walking to the general store (the only store in town!) for pancake breakfast, and exploring the art galleries in Franklin the next town over. This is a great launching place, so you can stay at home and enjoy quiet Maine on the pond, or jump in the car and be at Acadia for the day or even half a day. Kathleen has taken great care to make sure guests are taken care of, leaving little notes around with hints & instructions, and a huge organized pile of information on all the outings you can take-- and before the trip was great with answering our many questions quickly & thoughtfully. It's clear she loves this house & property and wants renters to love it as much as she does, so she puts a lot into it. We feel so lucky to have found this place and will certainly be back!

Quiet, peaceful lodge on a beautiful lake

5 of 5
Overall my family and I had a wonderful stay at this lodge. The lodge is very spacious with many amenities inside. My husband and my son and his girlfriend enjoyed the recreation room downstairs, especially the pinball machines and the pool table. The bedrooms were all spacious and comfortable, some with great views in the morning. The living room and dining room areas also had gorgeous views of the lake! The lake was very beautiful and we all enjoyed our daily canoe rides around the lake, the canoe was easily rented and delivered for the week from a local guy. My family and I also really enjoyed the fire pit near the lake and had several camp fires during the week. Besides the lodge and lake, we also liked that the lodge is not too far from Ellsworth, which has a bunch of great little shopping areas. My husband and I also made a day trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park which is not too far away. Overall we really enjoyed our stay for the week and will definitely keep this place in mind for a future family trip!
