Great vacation

5 of 5
My wife and I, along with our Black Lab just returned home from a week at the cottage. It is FANTASTIC! The cottage is extremely clean and well kept, equipped with all you need for a home away from home. The property is the near the end of a dirt road which is a turn off a quiet country road. The dock sits on a peaceful cove just steps from the house. There are a few other docks near but with very little activity. The atmosphere is serene, especially at sunrise and in the the evenings when the Loons are singing. We enjoyed playing in the kayak, swimming, fishing from the dock and boat, but mostly just relaxing. The central location is great for touring mid-coast Maine yet far enough away from the hustle ad bustle. The town of Damariscotta has a great grocery store, gas stations, ice cream shop, and restaurants. We were able to tour Acadia, Rockland, Camden, Freeport, Boothbay Harbor, Pemaquid Point and beach, Coastal Botanical Gardens and took a whale watching cruise. The owner Nancy and daughter Chris are accommodating without intruding. They live next door but we never saw them after checking in until checking out. When I informed them the wifi was not working they spent the next four days trying to get it working even after I told them we did not need it. In the end we were actually glad it did not work. If we ever return to Maine we will stay at the the cottage. I would strongly recommend the site for couples as well as small families. Thanks Nancy and Chris.

A complete gem!

5 of 5
This is a wonderful spot! I have rented quite a few places from sites like Home Away and have generally been happy with the places, but this place was really special. When they say it is waterfront, they aren't kidding! I even think they undersell the beauty of the interior of the cabin and the lake. It was just two of us and two dogs but it would have been very comfortable for a family or another couple. We were treated to an amazing full moon over the lake on our first night and despite chilly temps neither of us wanted to go back inside. Of course, inside we were delighted with the woodstove that kept us toasty all weekend long. Our dogs were in absolute heaven as well. The house is well appointed, a great place for a leisurely vacation of doing anything you want--or nothing at all! The area was lovely--the last of the beautiful fall foliage delighted us, some nearby hikes were wonderful, and of course we had to go out on the lake! Every afternoon we enjoyed a sunset paddle. Damariscotta was a very cute place for an afternoon jaunt and a yummy lunch and we can't wait to come back. I cannot recommend this place enough. It might not be "fancy" but you will be more than comfortable and if you do nothing but stare at the beautiful lake you will come back refreshed and relaxed! One final note, Lucas was wonderful to work with. He seems to really take pride in this property and it shows.

Stunning Spot

5 of 5
The cottage is in a stunning position set back a few feet into the trees but overlooking the Damariscotta River. It was clean, comfortable and well equipped, including a number of pieces of antique furniture which contribute to the atmosphere. it as a few minutes drive from Damariscotta, which provides all the facilities likely to be needed by anyone on vacation. We were visiting from the UK and, therefore, did not have a US bank with which to pay by cheque/check. This caused some complications both for ourselves and the owners but they dealt with them efficiently and helpfully. Anyone visiting this area should be sure to visit the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railroad Museum at nearby Alna. It is fascinating. We hope to return to the cottage within the next year or two and would recommend it to anyone.
