          Two Perfect Weeks!

          5 of 5
From the minute I turned into the drive, I was mesmerized. As I stepped into Unwined, I knew that the next two weeks would be wonderful! The owners had already been very helpful and we have absolutely nothing to be unhappy about. The house is extremely comfortable, very clean and exceptionally well thought through. The way the well appointed kitchen is set up, two people working on a meal, and the doors of the frig, are not an issue! The back porch, the woodwork, the lights, and that wonderful afternoon nap spot by the bay windows turn the walk upstairs into a how much better can it get, question. Well, those double doors onto the upstairs deck, wow! Sleeping with them wide open so that one can hear the wonderful quiet, is priceless. The upstairs bath matches the kitchen in comfort and wisdom as far as the set up is. Since it was summer, and did not want to waste time away from the outdoors, I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful shower. The owners have sparred no expense on making sure that the big ticket items are of the best quality. I will enjoy the bathtub and fireplace when we visit in the winter! We both left Unwined totally relaxed and full of eagle, heron, hawk, and fox sightings. The hermit thrush kept us company all day and of course the chickadees, juncos and woodpeckers were busy keeping up with the thrush! We found it extremely helpful that we know our way around and we didn't have to be away from Unwined too long. Beth's from Warren, Jess's from Rockland, Rayre and the cheese store from Rockport and of course Primo's for our special celebrations made the stay extremely fun and easy. Blue Hill, Acadia, Tenant's Harbor and all the antiquing one can handle, are all fun stops. If one knits or spins, Over the Rainbow in Rockland, is the store to get even more yarn! All in all, Can't wait for our Winter visit!

          A little piece of heaven

          5 of 5
I can't say enough about our wonderful week at Cove's Edge! The location - peaceful and private, the views - stunning, the cottage - charming. The cottage itself was adorable, and had all the amenities we needed - a fully functional kitchen, shower with good water pressure, and a comfortable bed and futon (there were 3 of us). It was clean and organized, and was obviously tended to with loving care. The grounds were lovely, as Helen and Merritt are both excellent gardeners. There were fresh flowers on the table when we arrived, and Helen gave us lavender from her garden as we prepared to leave. She also baked us the most delicious blueberry muffins - what a treat! Helen and Merritt are lovely hosts - very helpful and kind, but also happy to give privacy. The best part of Cove's Edge is location, though. Directly on the water. Just a lawn and a few steps to the beach. I went every afternoon at low tide for some beach-combing, which was ridiculously relaxing. I fell asleep each night to the sounds of small lapping waves and the sounds of the seals (at low tide, they gather on two big rocks nearby). We also occupied ourselves with the comings and goings of the (very active) bird feeder (goldfinches and cardinals), a woodchuck who checked us out from the beach stairs, a chipmunk, and a few squirrels. Although we had 2 days of rain, the view of the water from the kitchen table was enough to keep us happy. The cottage is also very close to some great spots in Thomaston (the prison store), Rockland (Brass Compass, Quilt Divas quilt shop, shopping on Route 1), Owl's Head (the transportation museum is pretty amazing, even if you're not into that kind of thing, and go to the Owl's Head General Store and get a 7-Napkin Burger), Camden (the Once a Tree shop had some real finds), and Belfast (FIddelheads art/craft supply was adorable). We also took a drive up the Big Chicken Barn in Ellsworth, where we spent 3 solid hours looking a used books and antiques - that place is huge! Since returning to the real world, I have recommended this cottage to quite a few people, all of whom were interested as soon as I showed them a picture of the view. Truly a gem of a place! Highly recommended!

          Fabulous little cottage

          5 of 5
The cottage is situated in Cushing, about 30 mins drive from the nearest towns of Thomaston and Rockland. It is located on a small headland, right on the beach and has wonderful views over the bay. The cottage is surrounded by lawns and mature trees and is secluded, so if peace and quiet is what you are looking for, this is it. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean, comfortable and well appointed, In fact it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owners, Pat and Bill have really put some thought into this rental, to ensure you have a great time. Both they and the neighbours are really friendly and helpful, even able to provide the requisite lobster! The views from the deck are fabulous and you can watch the lobstermen (and women!) at work and also the wildlife out in the bay. Within driving distance of the house are Camden, Belfast, Bath and even parts of the Arcadia region. We loved this cottage, it was cosy and comfortable and most of all we felt really at home there. We had a wonderful experience and I can't recommend this cottage highly enough. Thank you Bill and Pat. .
