Best Family Vacation

5 of 5
My sons 9 and 6, my husband and I were fortunate to stay at Evelyn' house for two weeks. We did not want to leave so the best next thing was to talk to Evelyn about comming back next year. This house does not feel at all like a rental house. The best way for me to describe how we felt at Evelyn's house and at Isleford is to compare it to staying at a great friend or favorite family member's house. Not only did we feel at home when we first got there, but whenever we mentioned to people on the island that we were staying at Evelyn's house they would treated like we were their guests too. When we arrived she picked us up at the dock and welcomed us to her house. Even though the house looks like it came right out of home decorating magazine it has such a welcoming feel that we really enjoyed every bit of it. The kitchen has every appliance you need to make anything from a simple meal to four course meal. It even inspired my husband to make us popovers and two delicious lobster meals. The beds have the best mattresses. We took naps just about every day. Every room in the house is great. During the day we loved sitting in the front room reading or playing chess on Evelyn's beautiful chess set. In the evenings we would sit in the back room reading, playing games and even watched a movie or two. Evelyn has the collection of children's books. The patio is great to eat your meals or just sit and visit. The island was the perfect place for my family to disconnect from the normal hustle and bustle of every day life. The boys were able to go out and play on their own. There is a playground right accross the street. We took lots of walks to the beach and through out the island exploring and discovering great walking trails. Just as great as the house and as beautiful as the island is the people of Isleford made our trip even more special. We were so lucky to meet some great people. They were extremely friendly and were always willing to help. The neighbors, the shop owners, the people who visit every year made us feel like we had been going to Isleford all our lives. Going to Isleford Market and post office regularly is a must. It is where all the people go to find out the latest local news and find out about the local events. I highly recommend you visit all the local stores and shops. It is the best way to get to know all the great people on the island. Our family is looking forward to going back to visit our new made friends.
