We had a great trip and we will be back.

5 of 5
We flew from CA to Boston, rented a car and then arrived after 10 pm that night, and found that everything was set up to welcome us to the lovely house. The beds were made up for us, lights were on, snacks and beer were provided and the key was just where they promised. We were very comfortable for 9 days. Owner is very nice to deal with and very responsive to questions, etc. The house is small enough to be cozy and large enough to feel spacious. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything including plates, silverware, glasses, etc. I made coffee every morning and drank it in one of the nice blue stoneware mugs. The best morning experience was opening the front door to take in the cool breeze in the many trees and the dappled sunlight on the front yard. We don't get much of that kind of thing at home. We used to stay in a large inn near downtown but this house was so much better, more private and lots of space, plus we would have paid twice the price at an inn. Extreme peace and quiet. The house is decorated in beach style with lots of fun things everywhere. I loved the lighthouse themed quilt on my bed. The two TVs worked out great for us, I got to watch the US Open while my husband watched baseball. Lots of channels! Our normal routine was to drive to the Arundel Diner for breakfast. They make the best French Toast. Right across the street from the diner is a daily flea market, with lots of interesting items and friendly Mainers. The weekend markets are the biggest. We also love to just drive all of the wooded roads and find new ways to get back to the house. There is a great produce stand on the way to Arundel with lots of fresh berries and home made baked goods. We like to drive around and stop here and there and be back to the house by 3 or 4 pm. We reserved that time to sit out on the front lawn in the adirondak chairs with a beer and let the peaceful feeling wash over us. We always walk through Kennebunkport at night. Lovely historic homes everywhere on tree-lined streets. We also visited Goose Rocks Beach to sit and watch people. We like to drive on Ocean Avenue out by the Bush compound and look at the beautiful ocean front houses and wish we could live there. Almost every night we go to Nunan's Lobster Hut about half a mile or less from the house. I always get a whole lobster and enjoy cracking and eating the claws. We also like the Fried Clam Strips at Allisons.

Charming Cape Porpoise!

5 of 5
This bright, charming apartment was the ideal home base for exploring Kennebunkport and the surrounding areas. If you're a shopper, you're close to the outlets, as well as to Portland. Amazing beaches nearby. We immediately felt at home and had one of the most relaxing vacations ever. The property itself is beautiful and inviting, and located right on one of the most picturesque little harbors. Having the dock was a bonus...to sit and watch the tides, people fishing, have your morning tea, or just to enjoy the peace and quiet. And, being pet friendly, we got to bring our little dog which made our vacation all the better. We're just home and already wanting to return next year...for a longer stay.

Fantastic!

5 of 5
Just returned very grudgingly from our delightful, restful week at the Fish House. What a fantastic vacation spot! The house is completely charming and the deck is really the highlight. We spent many hours on the deck, doing the arduous job of watching the tide come in right underneath us. It was also an awesome spot for nighttime meteor-gazing. The bedrooms are, indeed, cozy ... the smaller room (and the stairway) was a little tight for our 6' tall teenager, but my husband and I were delighted with our room. Beds and linens were top-notch and very comfortable. The kitchen is ... yes, small. So, eat your breakfast on the deck and then go eat lobster rolls and seafood chowder at the chowder house down the street. :) I was a little wary of the "rustic" bathroom, but was pleasantly surprised. It's clean, the shower's good, no worries there. The town of Cape Porpoise is tiny, quiet and charming - quite a relief after our traffic-clogged arrival trip through Kennebunkport. The short trip to beautiful Goose Rocks beach was always a treat. The market in town is walking distance and very well-supplied - and not crazy expensive, either. After 2 days my husband was ready to re-book for many consecutive summers ... I'm sure we'll be back!
