Charming and comfortable cottage

5 of 5
While on a walk during last year's vacation I fell in love with this little house on Langsford Road. Much to my delight I discovered the house for rent on Homeaway. The charm that beckons from the street continues inside from the instant you open the door. Cozy and clean, well edited and well supplied, an inviting back deck outside and welcoming beds inside. All serve to sooth the spirit and create a wonderful stay. Maybe the nicest touch of all was Brian calling to make sure that we'd gotten in safely and were comfortable. Minutes away are some great restaurants. Two of my favorites are Pier 77 at the head of Cape Porpoise harbor and Bandaloop in Kennebunkport. I will and have recommended this house to friends and look forward to returning.

Cape Porpoise house

4 of 5
Nice clean house. Some nice decorative touches have been made to give this place a cozy cottage feeling, tastefully done. The deck does need work. Plenty of parking space in the front and rear of the house. Appliances in the kitchen are excellent except the refrigerator could be replaced. Nice hardwood floors throughout. Lovely bathrooms and new washer and dryer in the basement. First floor bedroom is ideal for older parent or parents who can't climb stairs. Very steep stairs to the 2nd floor bedrooms. Both bedrooms are very large one with big king-size bed and two twins in the other with plenty of extra space for an air mattress if need be. Two hops, a skip and jump to Nunan's Lobster Restaurant, Television screen is adequate but small. Plenty of nice towels and sheets available. I added two new mugs to the kitchen as there were not very many for coffee drinkers. Overall , a lovely stay here - I would return.

Fantastic!

Just returned very grudgingly from our delightful, restful week at the Fish House. What a fantastic vacation spot! The house is completely charming and the deck is really the highlight. We spent many hours on the deck, doing the arduous job of watching the tide come in right underneath us. It was also an awesome spot for nighttime meteor-gazing. The bedrooms are, indeed, cozy ... the smaller room (and the stairway) was a little tight for our 6' tall teenager, but my husband and I were delighted with our room. Beds and linens were top-notch and very comfortable. The kitchen is ... yes, small. So, eat your breakfast on the deck and then go eat lobster rolls and seafood chowder at the chowder house down the street. :) I was a little wary of the "rustic" bathroom, but was pleasantly surprised. It's clean, the shower's good, no worries there. The town of Cape Porpoise is tiny, quiet and charming - quite a relief after our traffic-clogged arrival trip through Kennebunkport. The short trip to beautiful Goose Rocks beach was always a treat. The market in town is walking distance and very well-supplied - and not crazy expensive, either. After 2 days my husband was ready to re-book for many consecutive summers ... I'm sure we'll be back!
