My husband booked this house for our anniversary. My first impression was that it was exactly what I imagined a rural Maine farmhouse to be- rolling fields and woods, glimpses of the ocean as we picked our way up back roads along the coast, going through a "tree tunnel", and right when I thought perhaps he was pranking me and taking me to a dead end in the middle of nowhere, we turned a corner and there was the house! Fits the pictures exactly. We were greeted by the proprietress, Robyn, who treated us to a full tour and history of the place. It's hard to tell the renovated rooms from the originals, a lot of antique details have been maintained and it's clear that a lot of care has gone into the preservation of this gem. The beds are comfy and appear to have new mattresses/pillows, clean and soft linens and towels, cozy den for watching a movie at night, well stocked all around! Had a great time preparing picnic lunches, happy hour goodies and suppers in the sunny kitchen with the mountain views, reading a book and enjoying a beer or cup of tea on the porch, exploring the woods and fields, and on a few occasions making the 10-15 min drive into either Camden or Belfast for shopping, ice cream, happy hour, dinner etc. We will definitely be back!
