Fantastic cottage escape

5 of 5
We wanted a waterfront cottage for a quiet, relaxing escape. Ideally it would be somewhere we could swim, cycle, kayak/paddleboard, hike, go for runs, golf, find good restaurants and spectacular scenery. We found all of this and more at Brian and Mark's cottage. The cottage itself is well appointed and cozy, and Brian and Mark go the extra mile to cater to their guests - the fridge was stocked with many items to welcome us - things we would have purchased for the week (saved us about $20-40), but likely would not have finished and would not have taken away with us (condiments, spices, cooking ingredients etc. etc.). Having rented a number of cottages/homes in various locales, this was a welcome and thoughtful touch. The rooms are nicely furnished, with plenty of books and dvd's available. Comfortable furniture, lots of light and an incredible view from the main bedroom. However, while all of this is great, the real allure of this property is its setting. Right on the water, overlooking the dock, the bay, and the forest. At times still and serene, and other times vibrant with wildlife, kayakers, sail boats and lobster fisherman - but never noisy. Neighbours were around, but we never heard or noticed anyone - partly due to the orientation of the house focusing on the bay and forest. Even with Linekin Bay Resort just 5 mins walk away, we heard nothing. Grocery stores are 5-10 mins away. Boothbay Harbour's downtown, with its shopping and restaurants, is 5 mins away. The many Nature Preserves are beautiful for light hikes in the woods. All in all, a fantastic cottage. We were sorry to leave and we hope to return again. Thanks again Brian and Mark.

The perfect house for a Maine vacation

5 of 5
Our family just spent two wonderful weeks at Linekin Bay Lookout. Everything about it exceeded our expectations. The location is perfect – close enough to the sites in Boothbay Harbor, yet in quiet and secluded area. The house is a roomy, one-of-a-kind gem that has been impeccably updated and very comfortably furnished. Sarah and Andrew were the perfect hosts. They thought of everything to make our stay there enjoyable, starting with a lobster hat for our granddaughter and a nice boat tour of the area. What a treat that was! We especially liked the new sun deck and spent several afternoons out there, just relaxing and watching boats on the bay. It was a perfect vacation in a perfect setting. We’re already talking about going back next summer!

Great Experience

5 of 5
Kristen was excellent to work with and was very helpful and accommodating. This was our first trip to Maine and she had a lot of great recommendations and information about the area. The condo was exactly as described and pictured online. Not many full time residents in this complex, so we had the pool to ourselves the whole time with the exception of one evening. Very nice-- like having a private pool essentially. The rest of the property was nice and very quiet. The bedrooms were comfortable and linens were clean. The kitchen is equipped with dishes and the appliances work. It is very small, so if you want to cook a lot it isn't ideal, but it worked for us just fine. The location is really quite nice. Damariscotta is a cute little town among many others nearby. We enjoyed visiting Pemaquid Point which is very close to the condo. We made a trip up to Acadia which was a bit farther than we thought it would be (the roads in Maine aren't exactly as direct and fast as we are used to), but it was still managable. We also went down to Old Orchard Beach to get that experience, and that was a pretty easy drive. There is really so much to do if you want to -- or if you don't feel like venturing out, spend a day at the pool!
