Fantastic House and Property

5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at Toad Hall for the second consecutive year. We absolutely love this property. The lake is beautiful and can be seen from many rooms in the house, including the screened-in porch. The lake can also be enjoyed from the outdoor wooden deck and the dock. We hiked in Acadia and visited Bar Harbor and several small harbor towns and really enjoyed those excursions. However, our favorite was hanging out at the house, reading, looking at the lake, kayaking and listening to the loons. Total relaxation. This was a great get-away and we're looking forward to returning. Bonnie and Tom are lovely people and very helpful.

Beautiful cottage, wonderful hosts, great spot

5 of 5
This is a wonderful vacation property. The cottage is charmingly beautiful, immaculately clean and user-friendly. The owners are perfectly helpful, warm and friendly, but wholly unobtrusive. We stayed 11 days, with our 3 teenagers, all of whom shared the upstairs living space with no complaints. Blue Hill is a fun little town. Swimming and kayaking in the harbor (with 2 kayaks provided by the owners, as well as a canoe) is a must, where 4 seals are frequently seen frolicking around. There is a beautiful hike up Blue Hill Mountain a 5-minute drive from the cottage. Try to catch a play put on by the New Surrey Theater Company in the Blue Hill Town Hall. Acadia National Park is a 45-minute drive away. Highly recommend hiking up Cadillac Mountain via the West Face. And you have to see the Lumberjack Show, an easy 30 minute drive away. All of the little towns on the peninsula are also worth visiting. Don't miss the best Mexican restaurant in the Northeast, El El Frijoles, a 15-20 minute drive away. We also had a lovely sail in Acadia, using a local sailing company whose brochure can be found in the cottage. Cannot recommend this property enough to anyone looking for the quintessential Maine summer vacation.
