LUXURIOUS APARTMENT IN A GORGEOUS REGION

5 of 5
John and Beth provide the home base for the perfect Maine vacation experience. We echo all positive reviews of the apartment, an excellent value for the area. But we did not realize when we booked the variety and high quality of activities we would have access to so close by. We extended our stay a week and would have extended another if we could! Great food? Walk no further than across the parking lot to the Arborvine or DeepWater Brew Pub. Cool shops and more? Just a short walk and fine Maine crafts, fun gifts and an excellent bookstore - Blue Hill Books. Culture? Chamber Music Concerts and free admission to observe Master Classes at Kneisel Hall just a four minute drive away. Sailing? We enjoyed two fabulous sunset sails on the Guildive out of Castine. Kayaking? Excellent sea kayaking school, again in Castine. Hiking? Blue Hill Mountain closely or Acadia National Park just an hour drive. Crafts? Visit the Haystack Mountain School for Crafts on Deer Isle. The village of Blue Hill and the surrounding area offer so much, we can't wait to return.

PERFECTLY LOVELY COTTAGE

5 of 5
Our family of four (including two teenagers) stayed in the Peter's Hill Guest Cottage for 5 nights in July/August, and cannot praise the experience highly enough. It is simply, but beautifully appointed, very clean, and supremely comfortable. We really lacked for nothing. The owners live onsite and are perfectly charming, available without being intrusive, and with a knack for the little touches that make a difference. We loved sleeping with the windows open every night, to enjoy the cool night air and the peaceful, wooded surroundings. Blue Hill is a quintessential Maine town, right by the water with local potters, good food, community theater, etc., but without the crowds of Bar Harbor. We spent much of our time in Acadia and other parts of Mt. Desert Island, which are easily accessible from the cottage. We hated to leave.
