Quiet, cozy, scenic

4 of 5
If you are looking for a quiet, scenic getaway in the woods, this is your place! Cross-country ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile right of the door into White Mountain National Forest. 15 minutes from Sunday River. Dean and Deborah are friendly, helpful folks. The cabin is beautifully rustic, and clean: an authentic Maine Woods experience. It's the kind of place you can come back to after a day of skiing, settle in next to the wood stove, and say, "Ahhhh..."

Good for families

5 of 5
We were looking for a comfortable place to stay with our five-month-old that was close to trails, views, and towns. The property met those requirements and then some. We enjoyed how well-kept the cabin was. In addition to being tastefully decorated, the bed and bed linens were extremely comfortable -- a key point for new parents running a sleep deficit. We travel frequently and enjoy the small touches that make a place feel like home. The cabin was stocked with family-friendly movies (and one copy of Silence of the Lambs), games, and dry goods, so it felt like we were staying at a friends' house rather than a soulless timeshare or condo. We took our little guy hiking on the Mount Will loop and up to Grafton Notch State Park. Both were enjoyable. North Conway and the Presidentials are a nice day trip away, and Gorham, NH is a fun side trip if you're looking for a little more action than we found in Bethel. (I'm assuming it's shoulder season, too late for river sports and leaf-peeping and too early for skiing.) We'd stay again in a heartbeat if we were in the area.

Perfect Place for a fun and relaxing vacation!

5 of 5
The cabin was perfect in every way. The beds and furniture were all comfortable. We loved the gameroom and playing badminton outside. River swimming was lots of fun. Bethel offers plenty of services without being overly commercial. Our thanks to Sara for a wonderful vacation!
