Wonderful Bethel Village House

5 of 5
We have rented this house for many summers and plan to be back next summer. Location of this house is perfect. The Bethel Inn is just across the street if you are a golpher. The Bethel Common is just up the hill where you will find the Bethel Historical Society, many fine restuarants, a grocery store, library and other places of interest. We have spent many happy evening with our family and friends around the campfire roasting hot dogs and making s'mores. The owners, Robin and Paul are wonderful to work with and very responsive to any needs that may arise, although we have rarely had a need. The house is in wonderful condition and truly feels like home to us when we are there. If you are there in the late summer there are blackberry bushes in the back yard and the berries are delicious. I froze some and brought them home to Florida with us. The washer and dryer are stacked and hold a good amount of clothing, not small like some I have seen. There are numerous hiking trails a short drive away and Sunday River Skiway is twenty minutes. There is a side entrance and also a basement entrance with plenty of space for all those ski's and boots. As an added bonus on cool evenings when the windows are open and the train passes through Bethel you can hear the whislte from one crossing to the next.

Charming

5 of 5
Was looking for a different and relaxing way to celebrate my boyfriends birthday with a group of friends and this did the trick. We were driving from new jersey about a good 7 hr drive. The owner gave us very thorough instructions and was quick to answer any questions i had before arriving. The home was clean and had plenty of room for the 7 of us. The kitchen was fully stocked with any spices, utensils, pots, pans, etc which was a big help. Its located about 15 minutes from the beautiful sunday covered bridge which is an absolute must see and the sunday river resort where we enjoyed the lift to the top of the mountain with a breathtaking view. While we stayed there was an annual harvest festival going on and of course we had to stop by. The locals were so nice and helpful in giving us suggestions on things we must do before we leave. All in all we had an amazing, scenic trip and my only regret is not staying longer. Will definetely be coming back.

Clean, Comfortable...Great for multiple families!

5 of 5
This property far exceeded our expectations. It was clean and is well maintained. There is no doubt the owners take great pride in their home. The owners were very responsive and great to deal with. The description of the property is very accurate, however it's difficult to put into words how great this property is...I feel like we found a hidden treasure! The back yard is enormous and a short path through the woods leads to your own private area on the Sunday River. When we were there the river was low, but great for our children to float in tubes with the current and walk back collecting beautiful stones. We rented kayaks and explored the Androscoggin River, hiked Step Falls, and took in the most amazing views of Lake Lookmoosemeguntic while traveling the 'loop' for moose sightings. Bethel is a charming town, but not overly touristy in the summer. If your looking for an action packed vacation, this is not the place...but if your looking to relax, get away from everything and enjoy all the beauty western Maine has to offer...this is the place! Are children (ages 9 & 12), as well as ourselves can not wait to return next summer.
