Dream Honeymoon!

5 of 5
The Prud'Homme Cottage was the perfect location for our Honeymoon. The cabin was spotless, and filled with all the amenities you could ever need. The location was quiet, peaceful and gorgeous. Morning walks along the cove were are favorite part. Richard is fabulous to work with, and we plan on visiting Prud'Homme cottage again. It could not have been a more relaxing, welcoming, cozy, spot. Could not recommend it enough!

Relaxing week in rustic ocean side cabin

4 of 5
We recently returned from a week long vacation at Foxfield and had a fun, relaxing time fully avoiding the summer crowds closer to Bar Harbor. The cabin is located at the end of a dirt road. The directions provided by the rental company were not quite accurate--some of the road names were different--but we did eventually find the house. Arriving in the daylight definitely helped. Bring tons of mosquito repellant---they were vicious!! The cabin feels very secluded and we never heard any people, although there are houses in fairly close proximity on either side. It was wonderful to be able to bring our dog and he loved running in the yard and on the rocky beach, as well as swimming in the ocean (he didn't mind the 55 degree water!). We rented a tandem kayak for the week--the kayak was delivered to the house and was very reasonable. The kayaking from the property was some of the best we found in the area. We ate lobster at Thurstons and even cooked our own at the house. We also had breakfast one morning at Grumpy's which was delicious. We hiked Acadia Mtn which was close by and provided stunning views of Sommes Sound. The house itself is comfortable. Our only complaints were that the bathroom shower is extremely small and the shower curtain and shower were pretty dirty. The picture window also needed a good cleaning. The living room would be much more comfortable with a full sized couch instead of the cluster of chairs. Although there are small built-in couches on either side of the room, they are awkward for adults to enjoy together. The bed was very comfortable and the linens very high quality. The cabin was otherwise clean and the kitchen well appointed. We loved hanging out on the back deck watching the lobster boats and the amazing sunsets. The trail to the beach is steep and beach is very rocky. At low tide the rocks are quite slippery so people with children or elderly people may not feel they can access the water easily. Otherwise, if you are looking for an off-the-beaten-path adventure, away from the tourists, you will really love this place! We hope to return!

Wonderful Setting

5 of 5
My wife, son, and I enjoyed a wonderful trip to Acadia and Mt. Desert Island last week, and our lodgings at the Bobcat Cottage made for the perfect home base. It is nestled neatly into the woods just as it is described. Our Landlord, Linda was was helpful and accessible from booking through our arrival even though she and her husband have had to relocate across country.Through calls and e-mails she was always attentive to our questions and needs. Additionally, her neighbor and caretaker, Sara was on hand and also always reachable for any issue that arose either in person or via text. The cottage is charming and very comfortable for relaxing evenings after a day of biking, hiking, kayaking, or fishing. We also had the opportunity to enjoy the observation area for stargazing as I brought my telescope. The weather did not always cooperate as it was a cloudy week, but the spot was ideal when the skies were clear. We were lucky, however, on the timing of the wild blueberries outside that we were able to pick for snacks and breakfast. It is located on the Quiet Side of the island, and it is quiet and separate from the bustle of Bar Harbor. There were substantial choices for dining in nearby Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor when we chose to eat out. The cottage has all the amenities one would need for a week or two away from home. We would recommend the Bobcat to anyone looking for a quiet getaway on MDI for a very reasonable price.
