                    JUST PERFECT!!!!

                    5 of 5
This place was amazing right on the harbor and very quiet, just what we wanted. The property was not new but we were not looking for new on Mt. Desert Island that is why it was just perfect for my husband and I plus daughter & husband and 2 grandsons. Lynn the property manager was most helpful & easy to reach. The house had everything we needed and more. We enjoyed having our coffee in the morning and wine in the evening on the deck overlooking the lobster boats. The Sea Ketch Restaurant was right across the harbor it was our favorite for lunch. We were not that far from any of the attractions in fact it was a nice easy enjoyable ride to everything. If we get the chance to go back we will most definitely stay here again. Wish we were there right now!!!

                    HOMEPORT

                    5 of 5
My husband and I have rented Homeport for three years now, usually in late September/early October. The house is clean and comfortable, with a large master bedroom on the first floor and a second floor bedroom with lots of windows overlooking the harbor. The kitchen is stocked with good pots and pans, large enough to eat in at the counter, or at the dining table in the alcove. There is WIFI and a telly. Bass Harbor is away from the chaos of Bar Harbor (cruise ships) but close enough to The Park to enjoy the walks and lakes. Thurston's Lobster Pound is walking distance and has the best lobster around. And blueberry pie. And adequate veggie burgers (I am a vegetarian...my husband eats fish). There is nothing sweeter than sitting on the deck in the late afternoon and watching the boats come in and go out. It really is a bit of heaven.

BEST VIEW ON MT. DESERT ISLAND

                    5 of 5
We spent two weeks in this lovely rental property. As there were only two of us, we only used the upstairs unit. The little house was beyond our expectations. The view was incredible. 180 degree view of a working lobster harbor. The deck had a perfect view of the sunsets, which were spectacular. The kitchen had everything you could possily want to cook up the local fish, farm veggies and cheese of the local area. The location was on the quiet side of the island, but that was fine with us. Bar Harbor is a short drive to the other side. The unit was very clean and well appointed. The fireplace was wonderful when the temperatures dipped at night. There is a lobster pound right across the harbor in Bernard. You can buy live lobster there and bring it home, or have dinner. A new restaurant called the Lobster Katch is within walking distance. There is a gas station nearby, small grocery just up the road, and a colorful local bar called Nemos very close by. The owners were very friendly and accomodating and also managed the tour boat from the dock. The tour was fantastic. I highly recommend it. Matter of fact, I would recommend this rental to just about anyone. There were only two minor things that were inconvenient. There was no washer or dryer, but doing our laundry in Southwest Harbor just up the road wasn't bad at all. The other was the size of the upstairs bed. It was a double and we are used to a king size, so we were pretty cozy.
