Phenomenal

5 of 5
Even better than the pictures if you can believe it. This is by far the nicest rental property I've stayed in. It's clean, comfortable, private, spacious, nicely decorated, and a great home design that makes you feel like you're in the middle of the forest through its many windows. After walking in and seeing the downstairs, my wife and I each independently had the same thought ... wow, we could really see ourselves living in a house like this all the time. Initially I was torn between booking our stay at this property and a lesser one with an ocean view. I definitely made the right choice. It's a quick walk down the street to Bass Harbor, less than a 10 minute drive from Southwest Harbor where there are several good places to eat, and about 30 minutes from Bar Harbor. While it's not right in the middle of the action and not immediately adjacent to Acadia, we found the location to be great for our needs. A 15 minute drive and I was hiking on amazing trails in the park every morning. Visiting in the fall was an extra treat as the colored leaves were really going off during our visit. The one day we spent (off season) in Bar Harbor, I was surprised by the crowds due to the cruise ships that port there on a regular basis. I would NOT want to stay there if visiting Acadia. Bass Harbor fit the bill. Maria was very easy to work with. I certainly will look to stay at this property the next time I visit the area. I'll soon be needing another fix of lobster!

Charming cottage close to harbor and Acadia

5 of 5
The cottage is ideally located on the quietside of Mount Desert Island. This very clean, cozy house provided plenty of space for a family of 5 to spread out. We loved being able to walk to the harbor and explore the tidal pools at low tide as well as walk to the restaurants. It was just a quick drive to Southwest Harbor, Acadia, and Bar Harbor. The fireplace was ideal for relaxing after a day of hiking. We will definitely be back!

Excellent Place for a Stay

4 of 5
We stayed at the McKinley House two years in a row. Great location in that you have a nice view, you can grab the ferry boat and you can get to anywhere you want to go on Mt Desert Island. We also asked for some lobsters, which we got delivered to the house, which was awesome. We brought our dogs too, so great dog friendly place.
