Wonderful stay in this charming waterfront cottage

              5 of 5
The photos don't do justice to the beautiful panoramic view from both the living room and the deck. Four adults spent a week here and never tired of watching the lobster boats come and go right out our window. After spending just five hours in Bar Harbor, we were very glad to be staying on the " quiet side" of the island. We enjoyed all the usual activities in Acadia, and in addition enjoyed ( in no particular order): sailing trip w/ Sail Acadia, hiking Beech Mtn Trail, canoeing on Long Pond, hiking both Ship Harbor Trail & Wonderland Trail, and eating 5 times at Thurstons. A fabulous week at Crow's Nest!

A true haven on The Quiet Side

              5 of 5
Having visited Mount Desert Island several times in the past, my husband and I were excited to introduce our 2 young children to the beauties and wonders of Acadia. We really wanted to stay on the quieter side of the island, where we could feel a little more seclusion, and we were looking for a place where the kids would have their own sleeping area and where we could do plenty of cooking. We'd also initially planned to bring our dog. Bass Harbor Haven seemed to meet all of our criteria "on paper"; in person it turned out to be just right. The cottage is nicely situated, with a great view of the water and lobster boats. If you walk around the one side of the inlet when the tide is out, you can get down in the sand to search for shells. The sunset view from the front deck is just amazing- people stopped their cars on the main road to take pictures every evening. Deer wander up to the cottage, which has a nice lawn for pets or for playing tag with the kids. The cottage itself is nicely equipped with enough kitchen utensils to make regular dinners, and we were grateful to be able to do laundry there at the house. Although the house does face a main road, the traffic was not heavy and we felt comfortable letting our 4- and 6-year-olds run around in front of the house. Ken, the owner, was quite responsive when a storm knocked out some of the utilities, and our interactions with him were great overall. The house is as described in the listing; we did not use the televisions, but all other appliances and electronics were in good to great working condition. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will go back.

              Scott and Eunice

              5 of 5
We had a wonderful week in Bass Harbor staying at the Seamist Cottage. The house easily met all our needs as far as space and provisions. We were there with three kids including a one year old and a pack-and-play and high chair were even provided. There were tons of books, both children and adult, as well as some toys that kept our kids occupied during the down time at the house. There was plenty of room/beds for several members of our extended family as well. The house was older but very well kept and clean. The location was great-short walk or drive to Bass Harbor light house with amazing views, beautiful Acadia surrounding us, half hour drive from Bar Harbor and all the attractions there, short drive to many of the carriage trails, few minutes drive from several trails which my husband and I enjoyed hiking alone before the rest of the house woke up, and a grocery store ten minutes down the road, just to name a few perks of the location. Even for the less physically active members of our group there was a free shuttle bus funded by LLBean that made stops at the Bass Harbor post office which was visible from the house. The bus took you all over Acadia and Bar Harbor and you could come and go as you pleased. From the time leading up to our rental and throughout our week long stay, the owners were very responsive to our questions and requests. We made some great memories on our Maine vacation and will definitely be back, sooner rather than later.
