Beautiful Home with Gorgeous View!

5 of 5
I spent a glorious week in this beautiful home early last September! The house looks out across the ocean to views of Cadillac Mountain on Mount Desert Island. From the deck you can enjoy the view and the salt air, and watch for seabirds and seals in the cove. We even saw a bald eagle perched in one of the trees! You might see deer, too. The yard is very private and quiet, down a well-maintained dirt road with only two other homes. There are outdoor chairs in both the sun and the shade, and you can enjoy the beautiful flowers and shrubs. If you want to get out on the water, there are kayaks to use. You walk down a path to the rocky beach, and launch into the cove from there. You could swim in the cove, but the rocky entry is tricky, and Maine is not known for its warm ocean water! Also, there are lots of activities to do and historic things to see in nearby Acadia National Park. The house is absolutely beautiful inside, with tiled floors in the kitchen-dining-entry area and in the bathrooms. The rest of the house has lovely wood floors, and all of the woodwork and cabinetry are gorgeous. The living room has a stone fireplace and windows that soar two stories; at night you can watch the moon as it tracks across the top windows. The furniture is very comfortable. It is a great place to read or listen to music or play games or just stare out at the view. The den is also comfortable, with a flat screen TV. There are a limited number of local channels to watch, but if you have a smart phone with a WiFi hotspot you could connect it to the TV and stream videos. If you like to cook, this kitchen is for you! It has very modern appliances, and there are pots and pans and equipment to cook anything you want—if you don’t find it in the kitchen cabinets, check the pantry! It is a joy to be in the kitchen cooking…or to sit at the bar and watch someone else do the work! While there is a dishwasher, you may choose to handwash the dishes at the sink and enjoy the fantastic view! The two bedrooms upstairs each have a private bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed, the other has a full sized bed. The beds and the pillows are very comfortable. The ocean air is delightful at night, so the temperatures in the bedrooms are very comfortable for sleeping. All of the rooms in the house are decorated with lovely artwork and furnishings. It is fun to walk around looking at the one-of-a-kind objects. They make the home interesting, and peaceful.

Year after Year

5 of 5
In 2015, we are returning to Eden Center Cottage for the four consecutive year. We love coming back to a house that feels like home. Its in town convenience and proximity to Acadia National Park make it an ideal home base for hiking and exploring the island. We have enjoyed the local restaurants and taken advantage of boat tours off the pier. Jerry and Rebecca have been terrific hosts, showing great flexibility in meeting our vacation window requests. The home is impeccably clean and well stocked with supplies. They "use and replenish" policy works very well and reduces waste. Renting a home in Bar Harbor is certainly more relaxing and cost effective than staying at a hotel or B&B. We plan on returning to Eden Center

Lovely cottage, convenient location

5 of 5
We have been coming to Acadia for over 30 years and this was the second time we rented at this location. It was our first time in Jupiter Cottage (our first stay was in Hawthorn). Both were bright, immaculate, and well appointed, the grounds are meticulously maintained. The location is quiet and secluded, but only a few hundred yards from the main road and the Sound. Somesville is centrally located on Mount Desert Island and a short drive to everything. Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Southwest Harbor are all just a few miles away, as are all the attractions of Acadia NP. The owner lives on site and is always available is to answer questions or offer assistance. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for an easily accessible, quiet, well maintained place to spend their vacation. There are no negatives. We look forward to our next stay in Jupiter Cottage.
