Year after Year

In 2015, we are returning to Eden Center Cottage for the four consecutive year. We love coming back to a house that feels like home. Its in town convenience and proximity to Acadia National Park make it an ideal home base for hiking and exploring the island. We have enjoyed the local restaurants and taken advantage of boat tours off the pier. Jerry and Rebecca have been terrific hosts, showing great flexibility in meeting our vacation window requests. The home is impeccably clean and well stocked with supplies. They "use and replenish" policy works very well and reduces waste. Renting a home in Bar Harbor is certainly more relaxing and cost effective than staying at a hotel or B&B. We plan on returning to Eden Center

Great location!!

4 of 5
I stayed at Shannon cottage for a continuing education seminar I attended in Bar Harbor. I thought the cottage was as advertised. It was clean and well appointed, they even had a bowl of water waiting on the porch for my dog. It is located on a quiet side street but we were within easy walking distance of just about everything in town. I walked to my seminar in the morning, and walked the dog downtown every evening. I was pleasantly surprised at how dog friendly Bar Harbor is, so many of the restaurants have patios where you can dine with your dog. Many of the stores also let us bring the dog in while shopping, even one of the bakeries let me bring my dog in one morning when i stopped to pick up some blueberry muffins for breakfast. I would love to come back, and would definitely choose to stay at Shannon Cottage again or recommend it to a friend. there were plenty of linens and paper goods, and i thought the beds were comfortable. I only rated it 4 stars instead of 5 because the couch is starting to show enough signs of wear, that it will probably need to be addressed soon.(the cording on the cushions has worn through multiple places and they need to be recovered since the cording is made of plastic and sticks out) overall we were extremely pleased and hope to return again.

We Loved This Cottage (and didn't want to leave!)

5 of 5
This cottage is isolated in a wooded neighborhood near Acadia National Park that is off the beaten path but a convenient drive to downtown Bar Harbor and all other points of interest on Mt. Desert Island. It is beautifully and lovingly furnished. The owner's paintings hang throughout making it that much more of a special place to stay. My children and I enjoyed many of our meals at the cottage, using the outdoor grill for all of our dinners. We lit a fire in the fireplace and made s'mores one night! We were grateful for the gift card toward breakfast that the owner left for us for Two Cats, a B&B in downtown Bar Harbor that we highly recommend! At night, the cottage was dark and sooo quiet, the perfect escape. It was perfect for the three of us. I would not recommend the cottage for families with small children as there are many home furnishings that are tempting for small hands! But it is as lovely as described in the owners description.
