Superb walkability to sea, shops, and food

4 of 5
This house is designed for a large group (see below for a bathroom caveat). It has the greatest view of Frenchman's Bay of all the private properties on the street. It's a very short walk to all you might want for a coastal vacation -- ocean front, shopping, good dining and great seafood and pizza. I would recommend confirming the date of arrival with the owner a day ahead of arrival to just make sure all is ready and access to the property goes without a hitch. I traveled here with my parents, my children and my grandchildren. There was plenty of space for all of us -- even enough space to get away from one another when needed (which we needed). The "big" kitchen -- as opposed to the one next to it -- is a chef's dream, unless she needs space to store food supplies or tries to remember which drawer or cupboard a utensil or pot was taken from. (Although ugly, a label on cupboards and drawers in the kitchen could help visitors put things back where they belong and help us find what we need without going through the massive space.) Bedrooms are all upstairs, which are accessed from two staircases -- one a very grand one near the front entrance and the second from the kitchen area. Bedrooms are all a good size, some with twin beds, most with double or larger. The difficulty here comes with bathroom locations. There is a half bath downstairs, which is easily accessible to all. There is an older full bath upstairs that is off a main hallway near where the kitchen stairs go up. The other two full baths are only accessible from a bedroom. One is between to adjoining bedrooms and not accessible from the hallway. The other is in a private bedroom that adjoins another bedroom, both of which can be entered from the hall -- as long as you don't mind going through someone's bedroom. There are electric heaters in closets throughout the house that mean you can use the sunporch in perfect comfort almost year round -- and you should do this. It's the absolute best view in the house and a lovely mix of old, new, sea, and people-peeping. We had a major glitch when we arrived. The owners were very responsive. In the end, our four generations enjoyed their time here.

Cozy home with "character"

5 of 5
Had a great stay at the Honey Bee House. The location is convenient to downtown and within a block of the grocery store. The home has everything you need including washer and dryer. Enjoyed the front porch after returning from hiking at Acadia. The home was very clean and as described, would recommend to others.

Wonderful stay in Bar Harbor

5 of 5
With our recent visit to Bar Harbor, we had a wonderful time here. Julie was easy to work with and was quick with her responses when questions arose. The house was lovely and well planned out. We always enjoy having our own bathroom when vacationing and this home has one with each bedroom. Kitchen was well stocked. We especially loved the location. Quite and secluded. We saw an average of 4 deer a day, usually at least 2 in the neighborhood and at least 2 more as we ventured into Acadia Nation Park and into Bar Harbor. We also saw a red fox in the neighborhood our last day. This house has easy access to Acadia and to Bar Harbor. Close to restaurants and other attractions. We would definitely return should it be available in the future and I would recommend doing business with Julie to anyone who is considering this rental property. I am always grateful to people who open up their homes to complete strangers and are so willing to make our stay a great experience. Julie provided this for us! Christine H. :) :) :)!!!
