Recent Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island Reviews

Home away from home!

5 of 5
I almost feel like the prior reviewer--I am afraid to give away this jewel to everyone out there! But I have to be honest and do right by the very kind and super-flexible owner Joan. We had a great stay for several days and nights in this super clean, extremely well taken care of house! I loved that there are no carpets as I have kids (we had 2 adults and 2 kids) with allergies. The house is very nicely painted, has brand new beds, bedding and mattresses--very comfortable! Beautiful, well equipped kitchen for all of your needs and is located in a beautiful, quiet street of Bass Harbor, where you enjoy the view of the water right from your window and patio. It was VERY convenient for our day trips to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Located walking distance from a restaurant and has new washer and dryer, which was also great with 2 little boys! We LOVED our stay. We have a few more places on our list to visit before we come back but we will definitely return here and recommend to all who ask. Please note, just as another reviewer noted, the place only has one small TV, so if you are looking for HDTV and surround system you won't find it here, but we actually enjoyed that too. The small TV with a VCR was perfect to entertain the kids at breakfast after which we were out for the rest of the day and returned for late dinners at home... What else do you need in such a beautiful place? As I mentioned Joan was super accommodating, super nice and flexible. We took some pictures and would love to share them (once I figure out how to upload to here)! (Joan, sorry it took us a while to post our review).

Perfect rental!

5 of 5
Was the listing description accurate regarding the location? Yes Did the listing photos accurately reflect the rental's appearance and amenities? Yes! The kitchen is well-equipped. The only minor downside is the internet is a tad slow. Was the property clean and well-maintained? Yes, it was spotless Was the owner helpful in answering your questions or concerns? Yes, the owner was very helpful and patient when working with my changes (I had to change the number of people several times) Would you recommend this property to a friend or relative? Yes What nearby activities, attractions and restaurants would you recommend? Mainely Meat is just 5 minutes drive away. It is THE best meal we had in Bar Harbor!

FANTASTIC HIDEAWAY

5 of 5
I cannot rave too much about the Hideaway. In fact, I was tempted not to review it - I'm worried about a mad dash on the place that makes it hard for me to book it next time! It is a lovely home in a perfect location. The description is 100% accurate - wonderful light, comfy rooms, beautiful spa shower, huge kitchen, comfy fireplace, great work desk. I visited the Hideaway late Dec through early Jan to hunker down in a comfy place, go on hikes in the day and walk to town in the afternoons and evenings. This place was perfect. Everything is brand new and spanking clean, and the glorious windows let in wonderful light, but the Hideaway is still nestled in a corner off the main path so you don't feel like your in the middle of town (even though you are!). I could walk to the grocery store, restaurants, the movie theater, even the YMCA is close by. Eagle Lake is 3 miles up the road on which the Hideaway sits. There's a great TV, cable and many, many DVDs. Flawless internet access. The owner is next door - very sweet to check on me, but completely respectful of privacy. She's quite the charmer! I would stay at the Hideaway any time - it is by far one of the top homes I've ever rented. I didn't think anything could make Bar Harbor better, but the Hideaway does. Fantastic! Highly recommended.
