Recent Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island Reviews

Clean, charming, well-equipped house in a great location!

5 of 5
We had a very nice stay in this wonderfully renovated home, during the winter holidays. As the owners' description suggests, the house is immaculately clean -- a solid older home, renovated within the past year with renters' needs and comfort clearly in mind. The house is nicely decorated, and everything in it is in tip-top shape. The location is excellent, too -- a short walk to downtown Southwest Harbor, which we've grown to know and love in summer. This winter trip brought a new discovery: Chris's Pond, just past the center of town (to the right of Main St., as you head out toward Seawall and Manset), becomes the town skating rink in freezing weather! Great fun. Thanks, Eric and Laurie; we certainly recommend this home to others!

This is a vacation home, not just rental.

5 of 5
Looking for a vacation home, not just a vacation rental? You found it. Pine Ridge is a family home available to guests during the summer. It looks and feels like a place you'd want to be year around. The house is in quiet and secluded location, yet within 10 minutes to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park's main entrance. Four large bedrooms easily accommodated our family, and the large kitchen and dining area allowed for many evenings of fun, good food, and great conversation with three generations. A huge living area provided space for everyone to be together watching TV, enjoying popcorn, playing games or just hanging out. The Wi-Fi connection kept the grandkids in touch with friends back home. Rental arrangements were made simple by Kate Chaplin at The Knowles Company, and the owner immediately handled any questions we had. A vacation just doesn't get any better than this.

Great place to relax

4 of 5
The house was great. Clean and well maintained. It was everything described on the VRBO site. No bad surprises. Jesse was easy to work with, and provided great customer service. We did a lot of communicating leading up to the trip, and once there, everything went well, so we didn't have to bother him at all during the stay. It was a relaxing place to return to after running around on the island all day. Nice and quiet - in the woods. It has neighbors, but lots of space (and trees) between houses. Plenty of space to spread out, and you have your choice of staying inside or hanging out on the covered porch in front, the deck out back or in the back yard by the little fire-pit. The property does have 3 cows (steer) which were fun to watch and listen to. Our daughter loved it - and would ask for the "cows" each morning. It is within a mile of some of the trails which was fantastic! And there are lots of other trails really close by. Plenty of activities to keep you busy without having to go to the more populated areas around Bar Harbor. There is a butterfly garden very close by that was really pretty. Close to a grocery store, close to Southwest Harbor. You'll want a car or bike to get to Southwest Harbor and the aforementioned activities though. You can walk, but it'll take a while. Good restaurants close by, but a fully stocked kitchen (utensils and appliances) if you want to cook for yourself! If you want to go to Bar Harbor or other points on the eastern side of the island - figure about a 25-30 min drive. If you are looking for a nice, quiet place away from lots of people - I would recommend this place. It's not on the water, but it's in the woods, which is just as relaxing.
