Fabulous Views

5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at the house during early fall. The views from the deck are simply wonderful. The view is something straight out of "The Travel Channel"! You have grand views of Frenchman's Bay and Porcupine Island. Cruise ships pass right by the house. It would be nice to have the area below the deck, all the way to the drop off, tidied up some. There are many fallen trees and much debris. One cannot walk out to the edge, although as high up as the house is, one may not want to do that! (I am sure it is for safety reasons that the piles of fallen trees are there. Also, the property has nesting eagles and this may disturb them.) The house is well maintained and well stocked. It's lovely to rent a home that offers some salt and pepper, coffee filters, and sugar. There are plenty of pots and pans, along with plenty of flatware and plates, glasses, etc. The king bed upstairs was fairly comfortable, although the light from the driveway is very bright and shines in the window. We had to hang a blanket over the window. We are very light sleepers. This is the only bedroom we used. There is no view of the water from the upstairs bed. The upstairs bathroom is very small and a little dated. Also, given the positioning of the bed, one cannot open the bathroom door fully as it hits the foot of the bed. The toilet is right there at the foot of the bed. Know your partner well if you use that bedroom. :) We preferred using the downstairs shower as there is more room . The house has no cable or satellite television. The antennae on the roof worked off and on, but we didn't mind. The internet worked very well. The house is close to town, just a 5 minute drive. Lots of great restaurants and shopping nearby. The entrance to Acadia National Park is right there too. You are close to everything! The house is comfortable, extremely clean, and tidy. If you are looking for a property that is very modern and fussy, this is not the place. If you want stunning views, to see wildlife, to be able to hike right from your door, and to have accessibility to all the area has to offer, call Nancy. She was wonderful and will help make your stay beyond perfect.

Perfect place for small families

5 of 5
Our little family of three enjoyed a wonderful week at the Devon Cottage. The location to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park was perfect (a short walk and short drive, respectively). The house was very clean, cozy, and had all the amenities we needed. We loved having a Pack 'N' Play, high chair and baby gate to use for our one-year-old. Nina also let us borrow a stroller for afternoon walks to downtown Bar Harbor. We enjoyed the view of the Frenchman Bay from the porch in the afternoons and the gas grill for making dinners in at night. There's also a school immediately across the street with a field and playground. Nina was very responsive to any questions and was extremely helpful. It made for a stress-free week and a fabulous backdrop for our vacation. Thank you!

Nowhere Else....

5 of 5
Nowhere else could you find a place to simply be....to relax and enjoy Maine....to watch the harbor change, sometimes from one minute to the next....the fog, the bright sun as the boats pull out, the walk up to the ferry landing, or those sunsets....the ones that countless people pull off the road and take their tripods out to catch just a bit of one to take home with them....walking to dinner, the lighthouse, the amazing accessibility to lakes, Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain,....there is so much...truly a treat....in such a simply comfortable home away from home....a very special place. This was year five for us....we will be back...thank you for the opportunity....
