Wonderful Setting

5 of 5
My wife, son, and I enjoyed a wonderful trip to Acadia and Mt. Desert Island last week, and our lodgings at the Bobcat Cottage made for the perfect home base. It is nestled neatly into the woods just as it is described. Our Landlord, Linda was was helpful and accessible from booking through our arrival even though she and her husband have had to relocate across country.Through calls and e-mails she was always attentive to our questions and needs. Additionally, her neighbor and caretaker, Sara was on hand and also always reachable for any issue that arose either in person or via text. The cottage is charming and very comfortable for relaxing evenings after a day of biking, hiking, kayaking, or fishing. We also had the opportunity to enjoy the observation area for stargazing as I brought my telescope. The weather did not always cooperate as it was a cloudy week, but the spot was ideal when the skies were clear. We were lucky, however, on the timing of the wild blueberries outside that we were able to pick for snacks and breakfast. It is located on the Quiet Side of the island, and it is quiet and separate from the bustle of Bar Harbor. There were substantial choices for dining in nearby Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor when we chose to eat out. The cottage has all the amenities one would need for a week or two away from home. We would recommend the Bobcat to anyone looking for a quiet getaway on MDI for a very reasonable price.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location

5 of 5
We are so happy we found this lovely, dog friendly cottage for our trip to Southwest Harbor. There are so many nice things to say about the rental I don't know where to start. Kim and Bernie were a pleasure to work with, so nice and very helpful. We woke up every morning well rested on the huge, super comfortable pillow-top bed, watching birds eat from the feeder attached to our bedroom window. We loved all the beautiful plants all around the house and appreciated the well-stocked kitchen with high end appliances, tons of cookbooks, and every gizmo and gadget, also the convenience of having a dishwasher, washer-dryer, and air conditioning (other nearby rentals lack one or all of these). The location is so quiet and peaceful, yet, cell phone reception and wifi signal are very strong. As for Southwest Harbor, it's beautiful! We took a few very pretty walks around Long Pond and a nice morning walk with the doggie on the fire road about 5 minutes' drive away. A quick 25 minute drive and we were in "Bah-Habuh", we enjoyed the shops and restaurants (Blaze=yum, Ben & Bill's ice cream is off the charts) there. We went to the lumberjack show, played some mini-golf and drove golf carts in Trenton. Then there's the lobstah... I had a lobster roll at Thurston's (yummy but very slow service - but they allow dogs so that made up for the wait), lobster stew at Lunt's (delicious but IMO very pricey for the small portion) and my favorite lobster roll with chowdah and a pulled pork sandwich for the hubbie at Trenton Lobster Pound A (the one on the right on the way to Trenton from SW Harbor - with the big Real Pit BBQ sign). I would have loved to try a soft shell lobster, being from NY I never knew about them before, perhaps on our next visit because we will definitely be back!

Loved our stay here!

We just spent the week in this lovely brand new home. The house is absolutely lovely. Spacious layout with lots of room to stretch out and enjoy. My favorite thing in the house was the wooden "stuff" holder just inside the door for all your misc stuff. Every house should have one:-) Bedrooms and bathrooms are very big and comfy. The house has lots of windows to enjoy the views and get some of that great Maine air. What a pleasant surprise to sit on the back deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the horses in the field by the house. The location we found to be perfect for us. Short ride to Hulls cove and Bar Harbor. Nice walk in the evening down to the pond in front of the house. Look for the bald eagle in the pine trees. We highly recommend this house for your visit to Acaida National Park.
