Great, fun location. Lots of space. Kid friendly.

Great central location for anybody wanting to walk into Bar Harbor. Terrific rooms with lots of space to spread out. Quiet. Close to a little playground. Nina and Tom are terrific to work with (this is our second year renting from them) and we look forward to coming back soon!

Wonderful experience!

My wife, 2-year-old daughter and I absolutely loved Avalonia. Great attention to detail by the owners. The grounds were immaculate and beautiful and the lodging was clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. The children's room was a real surprise -- it has everything a young family needs to keep kids entertained (toys, books, stuffed animals, a tent and more). The location was perfect: We were just minutes away from the entrance to the national park, a comfortable distance away from the hustle-and-bustle of Bar Harbor, and mere minutes away from some really great restaurants and fine amenities (IGA, a winery, a playground, and more). If anyone asks us where to stay on Mount Desert Island, Avalonia is the place!

Wonderland

Off the beaten path of Acadia, we found this cute appartment, a great way to explore the subtle treasures of Acadia. While this place is on the quiet side of Desert Island, most attractions were very easy to reach within a thirty minutes drive. Bruce, the owner, was very helpful with maps and tips, also provided us with a flashlight in the middle of the night, when a storm cut the electricity. And we would definitely come back as soon as possible!
