Cozy and convenient

5 of 5
This was a great base for my Acadia vacation. In a quiet location yet well situated for access to Southwest Harbor, hiking trails, biking on the carriage paths, etc. The cottage is very clean and cozy with lots of special artistic touches. Well appointed with everything you might need to have on hand during your time there. The owners are very gracious and responsive to any concerns. I made sure to book myself in for next summer before I even departed!!

Mushroom Lodge at Pond's End

4 of 5
Mushroom Lodge is a very pleasant spot to spend a summer vacation. The location on Long Pond is perfect for swimming, kayaking, and taking in the sunshine. The pond water is crisp and clean, warm enough to stay in for a while. The property is wooded and has lots of tall pines, trees, and shrubs.. A deer stopped by the front yard almost every day, and there were ducks and birds on the pond. There is a alot of outdoor space to enjoy, and the porch overlooking the pond is good for outdoor dining and lounging. The house itself is small but mostly comfortable; the living room has TV and a big bay window; the kitchen is tight but manageable; the bedrooms were pleasant spaces but the mattresses can use an upgrade, It is a scenic 15 to 20 minute drive across the island to Bar Harbor. Or to Thurston's Lobster Pound. The pictures above are accurate, but don't capture the beauty of a Maine summer day. Overall Mushroom Lodge will not disappoint if you love the outdoors. Perfect place for kids and animals too.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location

4 of 5
This was a beautiful place to stay. The cottage is cozy and very clean; even though it's small the living room feels spacious with high ceilings. The furniture is comfortable and tasteful and looks new. The wifi worked perfectly. There was a binder and a good collection of books about the area. The kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with quality cookware. We enjoyed cooking out on the grill and eating on the porch, and cooking lobster that we bought live at the pound in Southwest Harbor, as well as walking down to Pond's End to enjoy the water and sun. There are lots of deer living nearby and one morning they grazed right by the window and the porch. The location was great for us, it's in a quieter part of the island but there is still plenty to do. There was some confusion over the presence of a washer/dryer because the agent's email instructed us to put sheets and towels in the laundry when leaving, but when we got there we realized there was none. There is a laundromat fairly close by though. The location can be slightly tricky to find as Google Street View puts it a bit off, but the number is visible from the road on the mailbox and we found it without any real trouble.
