Had a GREAT time at this GREAT place on MDI

5 of 5
We took my parents up here for a week for their 50th wedding anniversary and had a fantastic time. The house is very nice - updated, clean, nice floor-plan, well-stocked, nice yard, screened in porch, and located on a great, VERY quiet cove where you can watch the tides roll in and out. My brother and I wore the ping pong table out! The weather was also fantastic in July, and we got to do some great hiking, canoeing, and sight-seeing around the island. Took a nature cruise which we highly recommend, and saw bald eagles, seals, peregrine falcons, etc. We'd definitely stay here again next time we come up to MDI and Acadia! Thanks again! Unbelievably Perfect

I am facing a dilemma as to whether to post a review or not - I don't want to compete with the rest of the world the next time we want to stay here! We stayed in the Sunset Point Cottage in late July/early August. It has amazing views of the bay, is totally private, and we loved the peace and quiet (even with two boys 14 & 12). The cottage was immaculate, thoughtfully and fully furnished, and supplied beyond expectations in the kitchen and bathrooms as well as little surprise’s such as hammocks, a cooler, and foosball table. The sunsets are amazing, directly over the bay out the front windows. My family always tries to avoid staying in hotels, and sometimes the places we stay are not what they claim to be but I must say that in all my years of travel. I have never come across such a well-equipped rental. The attention to detail was beyond compare. Peter was a wonderful and responsive host and we could not have wished for anything more wonderful than Sunset Point Cottage.

A dream vacation that we never wanted to end.

The property was so fantastic, that we only explored the other part of the island only 1 day. This home has the perfect New England nautical charm. The amenities are 2nd to none. Every detail is taken care of to make this the most memorable of vacations. From board games to play at night, to kid size water shoes and every thing in between. Our most favorite part, was sitting on the beautiful deck in the morning with a cup of hot coffee and watching the smooth glass water or at night with a glass of wine and watching the sun go down. We enjoyed seeing the seals in the water and paddling the kayak out to get a better look to see them play. My personal favorite was watching a bald eagle swoop down low and grab a small fish out of the water and keep flying to a distant tree to have breakfast. We enjoyed the immense hiking opportunities in the area. From exploring the beautiful Nature Preserve next door and finding 2 red chairs overlooking a secluded cove to the discovery of a small family cemetery that is located in the woods near the main road. The house is completely stocked with EVERYTHING that you will need to have a most enjoyable stay. The only thing that you need to bring for supplies are the beverages and the food that you wish to consume. Everything else is provided. EVERYTHING. You can seriously spend the whole time at this home and never leave and you will never suffer from boredom. Our teenagers enjoyed the outdoor basketball/tennis court. The younger kids enjoyed the numerous opportunities for rock and seashell hunting. And for the teenagers, that "must" stay in contact with their friends, via social media, the WIFI system works great. We all enjoyed watching the immense change to the scenery when the tide was *in* versus when it was *out*. Our family has vacationed on Mt Desert Island many times, and we all agree that this is THE BEST place to stay. It has a better view/more amenities and expansive room than those fancy resorts in town. It such a neat place, that other members of our family are already planning to hold a family reunion there. Our oldest teenage son, had such a good time, that he has declared this home as *our* vacation home and that he is okay if we go back their every summer. We will be back. We also enjoyed the quiet solitude at night that was interrupted by the seals that were calling out to each other. Kinda of spooky at first, but then it became pretty neat to hear.
