Cabin in the Woods

5 of 5
Did a family trip to Maine and really enjoyed our stay over the summer months. Cabin was in the woods located next to another cabin but was private. It was nice and also within walking distance of a pond that I was able to canoe around on with my kids. It is located on the quite side of Mount Desert Island, its an easy drive everywhere on the island including Bar Harbor and Acadia National Forest in no more then 15 minutes. We had no problems whatsoever and would stay here again if we return to Maine someday.

September in Birdsong

5 of 5
Birdsong is a wonderful home away from home. We rented for 2 weeks, 13-27 September, 2014. The home is well decorated, with upscale appliances and virtually everything needed for an enjoyable stay. There are Bosch appliances throughout. The kitchen has 2 ovend and a gas stove. The pots, pans, cutlery, dishes and glassware were of exceptional quality and the home had everything needed, including a lobster pot. Even the barbecue on the rear deck has its own set of utensils. Birdsong's location is close to Acadia National Park and many interesting coves and harbors. Southwest Harbor, Bar Harbor and numerous lobster pounds are nearby. This home is a perfect place from which to explore this beautiful destination. We're VERIZON customers. Probably because of the mountainous terrain, our cell phones could only receive and send non-picture texts. We couldn't send or receive voice calls. But, once on the surrounding roads, full cell phone service was available. The home's INTERNET service was very reliable. Satellite TV had basic service only. Although the set top box was hi-def, the older non-flat screen TV was not hi-def capable. This home is amazingly comfortable, and is well equipped with quality cookware, dishes and glassware. It has comfortable beds, and is within easy driving distance of every imaginable venue. Like most VRBO rentals, the lights are CFL bulbs. A bit dim in the evening, but they do cast a warm glow. My wife, I and our little dog, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Wonderful Base for Acadia Exploring!

5 of 5
We wanted to explore Acadia for our honeymoon and Vicki's cabin provided the ideal base from which to do so. Equidistant from both Acadia National Park and Schoodic Peninsula, we were able to spend our days out hiking and playing and then retreat to the cabin (which just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of busy Bar Harbor) for rest and relaxation. The guest space in Vicki's thoughtfully designed and beautifully constructed Adirondack-style cabin is ideal for a couple of people looking for a unique place to call home for while traveling. Vicki was a friendly and generous host and was able to provide us many great recommendations for places to eat and things to see and do beyond what we had planned. Overall a terrific experience and would happily stay here again if/when we come back to the area!
