              Great Location! Wonderful Neighbors

              4 of 5
We landed in Addison after a 5 week journey across the United States. It was heaven - the view is amazing. The property is secluded. The walk to Bernies Beach and down Cape Split Road was amazing - meeting wonderful people all the time. Except for an iron and board (my husband likes his clothes pressed), it had all we needed for a relaxing week. However, I will caution two things: The beds are very hard - I put my sleeping bag under the sheets for a softener. And the towels are old and should be replaced. Otherwise, I would return for a very special spot on this earth.

Clean, beautiful cottage in gorgeous location

              5 of 5
This beautiful cottage far exceeded our expectations in many areas - location, cleanliness, charm, amenities etc. Unfortunately we were unable to stay there beyond eating a single picnic meal in the dining area, as we arrived just after Hurricane Arthur had made landfall and left the entire area without power. Thankfully, the owners Brenda and Alan found a functional room for us at a roadside motel in a nearby town for the night - no small feat as the any place with power was rapidly filling to capacity. To our great disappointment, the power company posted on their website that it would be several days before power could be restored in the area. This meant that the cottage could not be occupied since there was no electricity and therefore no water as the supply is drawn from a well via an electric pump. As the motel could not accommodate us for an indeterminate number of days due to huge demand in the area, and there was no availability anywhere else in the vicinity, we had to find an alternative rental in another area for our stay. As luck would have it the power was restored sooner than expected, but unfortunately we had already committed to a new property for the week (minimum stay is 7 days) and were unable to change our plans. Throughout the process, we stayed in communication with Brenda and Alan who were very understanding and agreed to refund our rental fees even though they were under no obligation to do so. They were extremely helpful in general and very responsive to any questions from us, even before we arrived. We are very hopeful to be able to stay in the cottage at a future date, as it truly is a little piece of paradise.

Just what we were looking for!

              5 of 5
We arrived at this lovely cottage and were pleasantly surprised at such beautiful surroundings. The cottage is very well kept, clean and offers a nice sized refrigerator. There are great views from inside the cottage, should you be rained in, provided by the 2 sets of sliding glass doors. There is wi-fi, cable(with 2 tvs), music and a wonderful array of books to read, including children's books. Outside is a spacious deck overlooking the cove and beautiful flowers that the owners keep. Just sitting on the deck we were treated to hummingbirds, eagles, eiders, a loon, warblers and many other birds. If you are up to it, you can even clam the cove at low tide. Bring boots if you decide to do so! The owners occupy the home next door and they were more than respectful regarding our need for privacy. Other than that, there are no cottages around you and no outside bothersome noises, it was very private and serene. Herb was gracious enough to take our grandson out for a spin in his boat and also took my husband out to haul pots. He was also available to grab us lobsters fresh out of the water for dinner. I know of no other cottages where you get your own lobsterman! If Herb is unavailable, lobster is available from local docks. You can do your laundry right on the premises so if you fill your fridge, there is no reason to leave! I suppose some children may get bored here, but that depends on the kinds of kids they are. Mine would have loved it and my grandson did love it. You can explore the cove, the woods, and there is hiking nearby. Jonesport beach is a few miles away and is nice and sandy also offering a small rocky section perfect for glass picking. In the other direction you have Schoodic Point which is an awesome day visit and provides a few restaurants such as Fisherman's Inn, The Bunkers, and Chases Diner. If you are into golfing, there is golfing at the Grindstone Neck Golf course in Winter Harbor. The Blueberry House (a gift shop shaped like a blueberry) offers a small mini golf course for kids. If you are into fresh water swimming, there is a swimming pond called Jones Pond in Birch Harbor. There is also a small movie theater in Milbrige, along with a big grocery store and a nice little restaurant called 44 Degrees North. If you are feeling like a road trip, Lubec, Campobello Island, and the beautiful West Quoddy Head Lighthouse are only about 1-2 hours north and well worth the trip. I loved this place and we will definitely be going back. :)
