          Best family vacation yet!

          4 of 5
We absolutely adored our stay at the cottage in Addison. It was our first visit to beautiful Maine--my husband, two young sons and our Aussie. We had our breakfast while Vivaldi's four seasons flooded from the open windows! We watched bald eagles and falcons feeding from the deck. We saw a porcupine in the yard and harbor seals and porpoise pods in the cove. We ate clams from the diggers in our backyard! We also ate almost 60 lbs. of glorious lobster! Cape split beach and sheep island were unforgettable. We kayaked and cooked on the beach--foraged for periwinkle snails and sautéed them in butter---amazing! I could go on and on...thank you so very much Mary rose pray! You are a gracious host and your land and cottage made a lasting impression on our family. We are truly missing the beautiful and unspoiled surroundings into which we had fully immersed ourselves. We are already planning for our return. This vacation in your cottage was the best vacation that the Nichols family has ever had! Thank you!!!

Clean, beautiful cottage in gorgeous location

          5 of 5
This beautiful cottage far exceeded our expectations in many areas - location, cleanliness, charm, amenities etc. Unfortunately we were unable to stay there beyond eating a single picnic meal in the dining area, as we arrived just after Hurricane Arthur had made landfall and left the entire area without power. Thankfully, the owners Brenda and Alan found a functional room for us at a roadside motel in a nearby town for the night - no small feat as the any place with power was rapidly filling to capacity. To our great disappointment, the power company posted on their website that it would be several days before power could be restored in the area. This meant that the cottage could not be occupied since there was no electricity and therefore no water as the supply is drawn from a well via an electric pump. As the motel could not accommodate us for an indeterminate number of days due to huge demand in the area, and there was no availability anywhere else in the vicinity, we had to find an alternative rental in another area for our stay. As luck would have it the power was restored sooner than expected, but unfortunately we had already committed to a new property for the week (minimum stay is 7 days) and were unable to change our plans. Throughout the process, we stayed in communication with Brenda and Alan who were very understanding and agreed to refund our rental fees even though they were under no obligation to do so. They were extremely helpful in general and very responsive to any questions from us, even before we arrived. We are very hopeful to be able to stay in the cottage at a future date, as it truly is a little piece of paradise.

          Peaceful Getaway

          5 of 5
Terrific getaway for a couple for a week or a weekend. My wife and I stayed at Crown Cottage for a long weekend, and didn't want to leave. The peace and quiet was amazing, and the views and morning walks were an experience of a lifetime. We will definitely be back. Although the cottage was an hour's drive to the Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park area, the benefit is that it is away from all the touristy/high traffic areas, so we got the real feel of rural coastal Maine. Jackie is a wonderful host, and we appreciated her hospitality!
