Excellent place to get away

5 of 5
My wife and I flew to Maine on our 26th anniversary in December 2014 and stayed at this house and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We enjoyed fires in the massive fireplace, enjoyed beautiful sunsets each night and walking around the loop at night when it was cold and the stars were out in full force. It is a bit of drive to get into town, but that is all the better if you want a place to visit and feel very secluded and private. I highly recommend renting this place. You will NOT be disappointed.

An Idyllic Relaxing Rustic Rural Cottage

5 of 5
Situated on inlet of the Atlantic Ocean, we found this cottage to be very idyllic. The location is rural and non touristy. It is quiet and tranquil, augmented by the call of seagulls and a glimpse of an eagle flying in the distance. The view of the tide coming in and out daily was very relaxing. Our daily walks afforded views of islands off the rugged Maine coast, with an occasional deer or two peering through the woods. The cottage is rustic, but with all of the conveniences of home. It is well maintained and very clean, with the kitchen supplied with every utensil that you need for one’s culinary delights. The cottage comes with the convenience of a washer and dryer, which came in very handy for our three-week stay. The owners of the cottage are very congenial and willing to help with any concerns that you may have. Internet access can be had about twelve miles away in Jonesport, either in the town library or just behind it when it is closed. Cell phone coverage seemed to be best about a mile away on the little causeway where one can get beautiful views of sunsets in the evening. The Navigator Restaurant, about twelve miles north, has an excellent menu. In all, the cottage is a very cozy place. We had a wonderful time staying there. We would definitely recommend staying there to anyone.

Fantastic home, even better than expected

5 of 5
We had an opportunity to rent a home in a more recognized location but chose this one because it's away from the tourist areas and it looked very comfortable; we definitely made the right decision. The home itself is in outstanding condition, very clean and, again, comfortable. Anything you might have at home, including wifi, can be found here. We only had three but it could accommodate twice that with ease. The views are fantastic, enabling one to watch the harbor traffic and view out to the islands and open water. Bring a spotting scope, as we did, and you can see the light house that's way, way out on an island. We also had the resident bald eagle visit each day, perched on top of the pine tree 50 yards away; it was a sight that we never tired of and we welcomed the visit. The deck is a great place to sit in the morning while having your coffee, or anytime of day, really. The breeze keeps it cool and the bugs at bay. The lobster wharf out front is the perfect spot to run down and get a bucket of lobsters for an incredibly reasonable price...and that's a huge understatement. We did it every day and despite as much lobster as I've had over the years, there is nothing like cooking ones that were caught but hours earlier. Judy is wonderful owner and extremely helpful, while being available when you have a question but never being obtrusive. We really enjoyed the times we spoke with her...she's simply a lovely person. Now, Jonesport is a great place if you want to get away from it all but it's not the place to go if you're looking to go out to dinner every night at an upscale restaurant. You're pretty far up the Maine coast, which is what we wanted and I highly encourage, but you're not going to find a mall, etc., nearby. What you will find, though, is a true harbor town focused on lobster, incredible beauty and a really, really nice home to chill out in and relax.
