Excellent place to get away

5 of 5
My wife and I flew to Maine on our 26th anniversary in December 2014 and stayed at this house and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We enjoyed fires in the massive fireplace, enjoyed beautiful sunsets each night and walking around the loop at night when it was cold and the stars were out in full force. It is a bit of drive to get into town, but that is all the better if you want a place to visit and feel very secluded and private. I highly recommend renting this place. You will NOT be disappointed.

Cabin on a secluded cove: perfect place to rest!

5 of 5
This listing is true to its description and the well-equipped cabin was comfy and clean and awaiting us like a lost friend. This is our fifth year returning, so that is a testimonial unto itself! There is always a new trail to hike, a new breathtaking view to experience, incredibly delicious lobsters (at very low cost) to enjoy, privacy for the spirit, and the pleasure of waking to the scent of balsam fir and salty sea air.... There is nothing like it. This year, we took a ferry from Lubec to artsy Eastport where there was fun shopping and great lobster rolls. We also hiked the Western Head Trail in Cutler, the views from which were extraordinary (and later we found they were featured in Down East Magazine's 60 Most Beautiful Places in Maine article!)The cabin is wonderful for a quiet, (mostly) technology-free stay-cation, but also a nice base from which one can visit many different places of interest. We went as a couple, though the cabin accommodates a family and more. There is something enjoyable for every age. We have already highly recommended this rental and will do so again. We hope to return next year!

Secluded Maine getaway

5 of 5
What a great place! The pictures and description of the house were as advertised, maybe better. The owners met us upon arrival to ensure we had everything we needed. They were excellent to deal with at every step of the rental process including the prompt return of our security & pet deposit. We brought our miniature schnauzer with no issues. She was able to use the fenced in yard allowing us to not have to put her on a leash every time she needed to go out. Our three children, ages 11-16, loved hanging out, climbing on the rocky coast in the back yard and playing board games left by the owners. The television has a satellite connection and was perfect when we wanted to use it. The WiFi was adequate for our needs, but if someone wanted fast connection speeds they may be disappointed. This home is truly secluded which we thoroughly enjoyed, but make no mistake, it is secluded. The nearest store of any kind is 15 minutes away by car. The owners directed us to the nearest fishing dock (10 min drive) where we went on two separate occasions to buy lobster and clams. The house is very well equipped for all of your cooking needs. The washer and drying worked well allowing us to catch up on laundry during our long road trip. The deck overlooks the water and is a perfect place to do nothing. The home, both inside and out, has lots of places to sit down with others or by yourself. Doors and windows all have screens allowing a wonderful breeze to move through the house. Acadia National Park is about 1 ½ hours away and worth the drive. Plan to spend a full day if you decide to make the trip. We did not use the two apartments on the property but they are right next to the main house and would be perfect for a larger gathering.
