A slice of paradise on beautiful Western Bay!

5 of 5
Wow, what a gorgeous home! I promise, you will not be disappointed here! Scott and his wife have maintained this home beautifully. It is extremely clean and well kept. The home had two decks overlooking the bay, with incredible views of the ocean from the dining room, living room, bedrooms, etc., a great kitchen with all cookware, utensils, and a lobster pot to boot! It is a very comfortable, beautiful home with exposed wood beams and knotted pine walls – an elegant, yet rustic Maine feel enveloped each room in the entire home. And I can't emphasize enough how gorgeous the views are here! Stunning sunrises were enjoyed right from our deck, while the backdrop of Acadia's mountains framed the scene. Just breathtaking! The starry skies at night took our breath away from our private stretch of beach. Walks along the beach during low tide offered us lots to explore in the tidal pools. Kayaking right from shore was incredible! We saw many harbor seals frolicking as we paddled and even met a lobster fisherman hauling in his traps. The awe-inspiring natural beauty of Western Bay and Mount Desert Island was at our fingertips all week, and it was truly tough to leave. Just a peaceful slice of heaven...that's the best way I can describe our experience here!

Hillcrest Cottage

5 of 5
We recently spent a week in Robyn and Jim Simon's lovely Hillcrest Cottage in Southwest Harbor, Maine. Their home is situated on a secluded, peaceful property. All the linens, towels, dishes, pots and pans that you could possibly need are provided. There is even a lobster pot for those adventurous enough to cook their own. Don't let the unfinished second floor scare you away. There were six of us, and we had PLENTY of room to spread out and relax! Mount Desert Island is the home to Acadia National Park, a nature wonderland. Everywhere you look is a 'Kodack moment'! There is SO much to do - hiking biking and swimming. And, after a day of satisfying exercise, you can relax at night by strolling in Bar Harbor, eating a delicious homemade ice cream cone and looking at all of the interesting shops. A trip to Mount Desert Island is a must for everyone, and what better place to stay than Hillcrest Cottage!
