Our fun week in New Orleans

5 of 5
I'd been wanting to see the World War II Museum since it opened, so asked Herself is she'd like to drive to New Orleans for a few days. Since we live in the Dallas area, it's an easy drive and after we arrived, Ron greeted us and then spent a couple of hours giving us some history on the quaint Creole cottage, tips on restaurants and clubs and personal maps he's made for guests. He and Mark are very pleasant, although Mark was a bit under the weather while we were there. The cottage is just as shown in the pictures, and even nicer. It's just perfect for two old geezers like us, and would easily accommodate an additional couple. I was concerned about finding available parking, since I've seen how crowded some neighborhoods can get, but so far, we've been able to park right in front of the house. Ron & Mark have thought of just about everything for your convenience and comfort - the bed is fantastic; so high up you need a small stepping ladder to get in and out. It's a big king-size, four poster that is great to look at and even better to sleep in. I'm wishing now that we'd planned to stay more than just three nights, but this is close enough for another trip soon. We love New Orleans restaurants, and we will only be able to make about six while we're here.

Wonderful, quirky, cozy accommodations. The location was great... we walked from the cottage all over the French Quarter with ease! I've never been in a place quite like it. It's was a perfect part of of the perfect adventure.

Exceptional travel destination

5 of 5
Bonne Terre is an awesome destination. It is an excellent central location for day trips in the surrounding area. Additionally, the cottage itself contains a vast and diverse blend of resources to help a traveler become intimately acquainted with the area (history, natural history, music, arts, food). The cottage host was also very open to assist with any questions or directions that we needed. I have stayed at many cottages over the past twenty years, both in the U.S. and in Europe, and Bonne Terre is the cleanest cottage I have ever stayed in. The owners take exceptional care of this cottage. I was happy that the cottage was equipped with exclusively environmentally friendly cleaning products and laundry detergents. Also, as advertised, there was no sign of pets or smoking in the cottage (excellent for those with allergies). The location is very picturesque, with lots of wildlife. Ideal for birdwatching.
