PERFECT PLACE!

5 of 5
I had planned a trip in February for my birthday with a group of friends to a different place but that trip got snowed out, and I am so glad that it did! I found this rental and it just fit all our needs. This condo is in a prime spot. You walk out the door and are in the heart of the French Quarter, just a few blocks away from any destination you could choose. The sleeping accomodations were not that of a five-star hotel, but you are not paying for luxury here, you are paying for the location and experience. For our group of 6 twenty-somethings, it was perfect. I will definitely be staying here my next trip to NOLA!

CONVENIENT LOCATION

4 of 5
Interesting eclectic neighborhood, but safe and parking available right outside the unit on the street. I wouldn't call this duplex "elegant", but it was adequate. It was well equipped with most things we needed. The owner, James was helpful and accessible. We were able to walk to the French quarter from here. We used the navigation on our smart phones to help us find places. There is a small market just a few blocks away that carries not only groceries but some take-away deli dishes as well. We walked a block away and had dinner at the newly-renamed "Silk Road". It was so good, we ate there two of our four nights. Only complaint is that the floors and carpets in the duplex were dirty and dusty and the bathroom mat was sticky. I would recommend this unit.

'JEWEL BOX' MY FOOT!

5 of 5
Arrived to the property and was a little worried about my choice in lodging due to the seemingly un-kept lawn and pale pink unassuming outward appearance of the property. As soon as I figured out how to unlock the door and stepped foot inside my wrinkled forehead and scowl relaxed into a huge smile. I immediately appreciated what I could only assume was a "woman's touch" with all of the decor and teal accents throughout. My friends stepped in behind me and each offered a squeal of delight, satisfaction and kudos on my deciding to forego a hotel room this visit and go with this. One of the girls ventured into the kitchen area and noticed the "Welcome to the Jewel Box" handwritten sign, and declared "Jewel Box' my foot..this is the Jewel!" Needless to say we enjoyed our girl's trip to New Orleans, loved the area we were in amongst the locals. We enjoyed some good eating at Jacqui Mo's, Camelia's Grill, and being Texas girls we couldn't resist the delicious bbq and a cold Abita from Squeals Barbecue which was directly next to the property...which we later agreed the smoke aroma was a bit better than the actual taste lol. The only con that comes to mind is that the washer/dryer didnt work..major plus was a fully appointed kitchen and utensils. Can't wait for another excuse to visit again will def be staying here if available.
