From day one, each and every communication with the owners, warmed my heart.
Though conversations and correspondence, I got a very clear sense of them, of their family, and, of how special they are.
When we got to the house we were overwhelmed by the beauty, the space, the amenities...right down to the little (&BIG) personal touches.
It is not *just* a house, it is a HOME, and we felt wrapped in comfort, care, and thoughtful consideration.
No detail was overlooked, -in fact, the "extras" Neil and Amelia provide for their guests are details that, typically, only loved ones and family extend to one another when hosting relatives and friends from abroad.
We did not feel like strangers entering the house. We felt as if we were "coming HOME", in a very real way.
I cannot say enough about our wonderful experience, dealing with such an amazing couple and staying at the BEST LOCATION and BEST HOME in Louisiana...
We are blessed to have found them and although we did not meet them physically, their loving energy was everywhere there!! -it was tangible.
I know we will be back again, because my husband and I FELL IN LOVE with Barataria, with New Orleans, and with the state of Louisiana in general.
We fell in love with the layers of history, the diverse heritage of the population, the multitude of cultural influences, the stimulating, vibrant, mysterious, gritty, exquisitely unusual city of NOLA...not to mention the natural beauty of the land, the Bayou, the curtains of spanish moss, the lazy dragonflies, the gators and wild pigs, the bruised sky that opens up with torrential rain one minute...only to clear and shine with incredible warmth and intensity the next.
All of the spectacular extremes of this place make it a TREASURE.
-a very unique corner of the world!
NOLA delivers a hearty dose of the strange & the wonderful, the new, the old and the exotic...
yet, even within all of this, the owners of the Deborah Ann have managed to carve out a cozy and familiar-feeling retreat.
-a downy nest that made us excited to return home at the end of a full day.
It was, for us, a safe and serene place in which we could regroup and relax together, sharing the experiences we'd had through the day.
We wanted for nothing during our stay. The home provided exactly what we needed --and so much more!!
I feel no other "accommodation" could sufficiently recreate the quality of experience we had at the Deborah Ann. -we will be back!
