Local luxury

5 of 5
My high school friend and I returned to new Orleans for a Saints football/NOLA reunion weekend with our husbands and toddler. It was perfect. Local New Orleans charm and modern comfort. Beautiful New Orleans, safe family neighborhood. Walking distance to hours of fun... coffee and shps on magazine, dinner at Clancy's or one of the new hipster hangouts, drinks at St. Joe's, poboys tasteoff (Domilise's and Guy's). Bonus: Offstreet parking for 2 cars. Toddler park 3 blocks toward Tchoup was unique and for us, Lagniappe.

Quiet Retreat Close to the Action

5 of 5
The photos don't do this place justice. It was a lovely, cozy retreat from the constant barrage of noise and lights on Bourbon Street. Ron was a gracious and informative host, taking the time to tell us all about the house and the neighborhood and some of his favorite spots around the area. We were in NOLA with a group of 12 people celebrating a friend's big birthday. Unfortunately, the rest of our party decided to stay in hotels in the vicinity of Jackson Square, which meant that we ended up walking a mile or more one way each time we met up with them, usually a couple of times a day. We enjoyed getting the exercise (greatly needed given the huge amount of food we ate!), but be aware that while this place is very close to the Quarter, there are popular parts of the Quarter that are still a bit of a hike. If you are here when the weather is warmer, renting bikes would still make this super convenient to most everywhere. The upside to being a bit out of the fray is that the place is, for the most part, VERY quiet, whereas our friends who stayed in the Quarter commented that their rooms were quite loud, often until 5 a.m. The one exception to our peace was one night there was a renegade goose or duck honking his heart out for a couple of hours next door. No idea what that was all about, but it certainly was no fault of Ron or Mark's. If you are a fan of getting more for your money and don't mind walking or biking a little bit, look no farther than this place. From the super-plush robes to the private hot tub to the delicious provided coffee, Ron and Mark have ensured that your experience will be more like you're staying at the home of friends than in a cookie cutter hotel room. Thumbs up.

Wonderful, quirky, cozy accommodations!

Wonderful, quirky, cozy accommodations. The location was great... we walked from the cottage all over the French Quarter with ease! I've never been in a place quite like it. It's was a perfect part of of the perfect adventure.
