Perfect for large families

5 of 5
This house was a great mid-way point for our NC/KY family to meet up for our annual mini-reunion. We had up to 7 adults and 5 children at any given time, and plenty of space to house us; stuck the kids downstairs, adults upstairs (helped with noise control from the kiddos). We had meals together every breakfast and dinner at the really large dining room table that had plenty of space for all 12 of us and all the serving dishes. Didn't take long to feel at home. Fantastic internet speeds; cell/data signals were better for AT&T users than Sprint. We came in expecting a rainy week (boo), and were able to hook up our game consoles for the kids, and stream netflix on our devices without interruption (just don't forget cables as the nearest GameStop is 30 minutes away! oops). Huge laundry room, games/book shelf, kids toys, etc. Water pressure was fantastic. Water can get HOT, so beware with bathing children... but perfect for dishes. The fire pit was our favorite spot. There was plenty of wood hanging around from recent tree removals, and we covered what we could so it stayed dry through our rain spells. Plenty of space for the family around the fire, with benches and lawn chairs. We never had to grab our camping chairs from the van. Due to the excessive rain, we didn't get to use the dock until the last day, but it had perfect access to the water with steps going down the steepest part of the hill. As other reviews state, the hill is very steep, so make sure the family brings good shoes. (Note to self, don't go walking down a steep hill wearing flip flops shortly after raining, you'll hurt your bum. hah.). Our 88 year old Grandaddy went up and down the hill a few times, but called it quits later in the week. The location is nice and quiet. At night we heard some coyotes teaching their young to howl across the lake. Owls at night. Cow's on a neighboring hill lightly mooing during the day. Daffodils blooming all around the house made for a perfect Easter. With perfect weather, open the front window and deck doors for a fantastic fresh breeze. Sat out on the deck for peace and quiet often when the family was loud. Due to the weather, we never used the outdoor gas/charcoal grills, but both were stocked. The best part of the entire trip was the responsiveness of the owners. Very easy to work with, available via phone and email (responsive!). Very much worth the cost of the rental. Will definitely consider for next year!!

We had a wonderful time staying here for our family vacation, us our grown children and their children ranging in age from 2 to 18. the home was very clean and well keep. the power plant was no problem. Swimming in the lake was great for the kids, fishing good. Loved being in a small cove. really enjoyed our stay.

Great Family Time ~ Great Location on the Lake!

5 of 5
We had a wonderful trip to Haddix Point Hideaway! The property was in a great location and there was plenty of room for the extended family to roam the grounds. I was nervous about the mention of the neighborhood dog but my kids absolutely loved having Kenna around throughout the trip! The covered porch was a welcoming area for all of the family to gather and chat as well as an awesome view to watch the boats on the lake! The arrangement with the marina was wonderful. They dropped the boat off and it was easy to maneuver when tying to the dock. The dock was a great place to swim and fish for the kids. Considering the grade of most of the properties at Herrington Lake, this lot was superb. There was a bit of a steep, rocky terrain leading to the dock, a typical person would have no issues maneuvering. The grandparents were able to get to the dock, though some needed a little assistance maneuvering the rocks. My kids were so sad to leave the house, all of us would definitely choose Haddix Point Hideaway for a return trip to Herrington Lake. Close destination for a short trip from Cincinnati! A relaxing and beautiful trip for our family!
