          Terrific for a family vaction.

Jennifer was very good about answering questions we had before we arrived, so our arrival was uneventful, except we passed the house. The house sits below street level, so we did not see the driveway at first. It is a semi-circular drive that can fit five vehicles. The house is very nice, with a huge kitchen table that we were all able to sit around at meal time. There was plenty of counter space and fully stocked with dishes and cooking utensils. The full kitchen downstairs came in handy when we fixed breakfast; bacon and eggs upstairs and pancakes downstairs. The living room is also spacious, the grandkids really enjoyed the chess board table. The bedrooms were as nice as advertised, and while the televisions were nice, we kept ourselves busy enough that we didn’t really use them. We were concerned about there being only two bathrooms, but it did not present a problem. The deck was very nice, with a great view. It was unusually cool when we were there, so we made good use of the fire pit, building a fire and sitting around it while enjoying s’mores. The hill to the fire pit and the steps is very steep and you need to be careful walking up and down. The new steps have been extended to the dock, making it easy to reach. It helps to zig-zag up and down the hill. We rented a pontoon boat from Chimney Rock and spent the day swimming from it in the lake. There was very little boat traffic lake and much of the lake is a no wake zone, so we felt very safe having the kids in the water. We went to Old Fort Harrod another day. The volunteers were very informative about what frontier life was like in Kentucky during the early days of our country. We didn’t have time to visit Shaker Village, but took the riverboat ride, which was very interesting Overall, it was a very nice family vacation that ended all too soon.

Great Family Time ~ Great Location on the Lake!

We had a wonderful trip to Haddix Point Hideaway! The property was in a great location and there was plenty of room for the extended family to roam the grounds. I was nervous about the mention of the neighborhood dog but my kids absolutely loved having Kenna around throughout the trip! The covered porch was a welcoming area for all of the family to gather and chat as well as an awesome view to watch the boats on the lake! The arrangement with the marina was wonderful. They dropped the boat off and it was easy to maneuver when tying to the dock. The dock was a great place to swim and fish for the kids. Considering the grade of most of the properties at Herrington Lake, this lot was superb. There was a bit of a steep, rocky terrain leading to the dock, a typical person would have no issues maneuvering. The grandparents were able to get to the dock, though some needed a little assistance maneuvering the rocks. My kids were so sad to leave the house, all of us would definitely choose Haddix Point Hideaway for a return trip to Herrington Lake. Close destination for a short trip from Cincinnati! A relaxing and beautiful trip for our family!
