The Real Jamaica!

5 of 5
After many years of traveling and living around the world before having kids, this was our first time traveling with the kids. They'd been on vacations before (i.e., Disney, all-inclusives, US vacation rentals, etc.), but this was the first time they'd travel like we used to--living like and with locals, visiting places off the beaten path, absorbing culture. Rose Apple Villa was the perfect home base for us and our trip was amazing! Our kids are 6 and 8. They loved exploring the beautiful property (my son became quite adept at climbing coconut trees...), visiting with the neighbor's pigs and bunnies, hanging out with the dogs, swimming in that massive pool! Even homework was more fun on the veranda with the fantastic view. We all fell in love with Jacquie and happily took advantage of the cooking option- she is an amazing cook! My son would take one bite of food, then run into the kitchen and hug her and tell her he loved her (which is saying a lot, because his biggest concern on this trip was "someone who couldn't cook as good as mom"). We had so much fun shopping for ingredients in the local specialty markets with her, the house was immaculate despite all the in and out we did, she did our laundry (!!) and she braided my daughter's hair so we didn't have to get it done in the market. I wish we had Jacquie at home! It was a real treat. Wayland was lovely and took care of everything we needed him to - we visited during a drought, so water deliveries were necessary (and satellite service calls because the water guys knocked the wires out). Everything was taken care of while we were out with only minor inconvenience. Kirk drove us not just to local places (i.e., grocery store, internet cafe, Chukka Adventures), but all over the island--to YS Falls, Alligator Pond (Little Ochie's is all it's cracked up to be!), Kingston, Port Antonio, even a local orphanage so we could visit and our kids could help out. He's a superb driver (those roads in the mountains are nuts!), has a killer reggae collection, answered all 10,000 questions we asked, his rates were totally reasonable and he's just a really nice guy. We sorta fell into going to Jamaica after a trip to Puerto Rico didn't work out and we all feel so lucky things ended up this way and that we found Rose Apple Villa. This was the perfect introduction to travel for our kids and we were both amazed with how much Jamaica had to offer those who wanted a true travel/culture experience as opposed to the resort stuff.

We found our vacation home away from home.....

We are delighted to write a review about our stay at your Mango Walk home in Montego Bay, Jamaica. We were very impressed with the way the house is kept..immaculate yet you feel it's a home you live in and you are comfortable to occupy the space. , We loved its proximity to all the action yet secluded enough to allow us our quiet and restful times. How could we not mention the service provided by Everton, the driver who shuttled us from the airport and to the various Jamaican attractions outside of Montego Bay, especially the trip to Negril to watch that beautiful sunset? My family..., all 5 of us are definitely returning and we will be recommending Mango Walk to our friends who are green with envy when we show off our pictures and recount the wonderful time we spent there. Not to be long-winded, but oh my goodness, the food, the friendliness of the neighbours, all added to that feeling like you were home away from home. Thanks for this wonderful experience at a price that was more than reasonable when you see the value received and the fact that it's shared with a group..

Perfect Getaway

5 of 5
I was at Palashia Villa with three other families which encompassed various age groups. I have to say that everyone had a fabulous time. Some days we stayed by the pool and relaxed, drank exquisite cocktails and watched the kids frolic in the pool. Other days we enjoyed a wide range of activities which included the nearby private beach, horse riding in the ocean, beachcombing, lunch at fabulous ocean side restaurants, snorkeling, boat rides and jaunts into Ocho Rios. I was going to say "there is something for everyone" but that would be an understatement!!! There was an abundance of things to do and see. So much so that I am planning my next trip to Jaquar Villas with an even larger group! With that in mind I received a tour of Tangerine Villa and I was equally blown away by its beauty and view. My extended family group will LOVE it all. The staff were so wonderful. They were charming, fun and attentive. Always ready to assist us or advise us on local amenities. Last but not least the cuisine was outstanding! Even my picky-eater was impressed and tried all sorts of new foods and loved them. That was some accomplishment for Sally! Can't wait for my next trip!
