An ethereal piece of paradise

5 of 5
My husband and I rented the property for a week for our family and best friends to stay in, while we also used it for our intimate destination wedding. We knew the moment we saw Norse Hill from only the photos alone that it would be the place for us to wed, however as with planning any wedding, there are many initial concerns. From the very first inquiry Kay, Al and Yvonne, all who take part in management of renting the property, were extremely helpful, insightful and quite reassuring with utmost professionalism. They took no time in responding to any questions, thoughts, or concerns we had which made us feel at ease. Kay even contacted us right up before we left just to be reassuring and see if there was anything else we needed. We arrived before our guests to see the property, and It was truly breathtaking. To be married in such a place, in such splendor, was awe inspiring; I couldn't concentrate at the moment on the business at hand. I almost felt regret that we were to be staying at a neighboring property (which we chose for privacy away from our guests although NH offers such.) The home is a bit dated, which imo only adds to the character to the very well kept property. The entire exterior and interior from the driveway to the sea is a beautiful utopia that lends itself to the cool tradewinds and fresh mountain air. I could happily spend the rest of my days there. The staff was very accommodating in providing snacks for the bridal party and vendors the day of the wedding. We also had an additional family dinner during the remainder of our stay after the wedding in which they set up the mid-century modern dining furniture out on the property. The meal was delicious and I'll never have another pineapple upside down cake like I did lest I return. ;) Yvonne helped us arrange an outing to do the down river bamboo raft tour (request BELINDAS for lunch) as well as some airport transfers at extremely reasonable rates. We were also given a property tour of the gardens by the keeper of 45 years who showed us various ferns, lillies, orchids, spices and fruits, some of which we were able to taste. The neighborhood location is very safe and secure. In the evening we would walk down the hill and back from the Bushbar (flashlight advised.) This part of Portland as a whole, as I have found on my few trips there, is quite safe. During my last stay, it really began to almost feel like home. Nobody wanted to leave, but we anticipate our return.

Superb!

5 of 5
We stayed at Bonne Amie Villa in February during our company retreat. The experience was great from start to finish and my co-workers and myself all left refreshed and revitalized. The rooms were very comfortable and combined with the sound of the ocean gave me the best sleep ever! I enjoyed swimming to Monkey Island from the villa each morning and returning to a huge breakfast prepared by the staff. The food was really great and we had some memorable meals that were prepared from freshly caught seafood delivered to the dock at the villa on a few occasions. The area is known for good fishing so we went deep sea fishing and caught a couple of mahi mahi which also ended up on the dinner table. That's as good as it gets! Our retreats usually are held in different location but we may have to change that policy next time around.

Dream Vacation

5 of 5
As travelers to Cancun, much of the Caribbean, Hawaii (hang loose) the Florida Keys and The Bahamas (including the Atlantis resort, which is also a fun place, man made beautiful, but sorry to say, we found that the staff, at ATLANTIS resort, seemed to have little or no consideration, for THEIR ATLANTIS guests). Our personal vacation favorites, are the Chateau en Exotica, and Castles on the Sea, Ocho Rios Jamaica, we had spent both our honeymoon, and since then five family vacations at the Chateau (which speaks for itself) We have also recently vacationed at Castles on the Sea, which is also owned by the same owners, (who own the Chateau en Exotica), which is close to Ocho Rios Jamaica, and once again, we have had some of our very best vacations ever, problem is which one to visit, Chateau or Castles? This year we split up our vacation with one week at each property, which was exactly the right choice, for us. Both are totally different, but equally fantastic in their own ways, we wound up having the best family vacations we have ever enjoyed. If your looking for a unique vacation/dream honeymoon getaway, or very special occasion, with a friendly and surperb staff, fabulous meals, a famous pristine Chateau, or two twin "Castles", we recommend either property, pick the one that best suits what you all enjoy the most. You wont go wrong. In either one of the most gorgeous tropical settings imaginable, only minutes away, are Gorgeous private beaches, rivers/ waterfalls for swimming, Blue lagoons, tennis, golf and without lots of tourist trapings. Though there are more tourist attractions in the Ocho Rios area, Dunns River Falls, Mystic Mountain, Dolphin Cove, Fern Gully etc), therefore you will likely find many more fellow tourist's in Ocho Rios. However Castles is actually about a 15 minute's drive away, from Margaritaville, and many of the other tourist attractions of Ocho Rios. We also love and enjoy the party atmosphere of Cancun, its lovely beaches (though mostly rough waters for swimming). But staying in a hotel, is not privacy. We find both the Chateau and Castles are TOTALLY private resorts, that are VERY VERY hard to beat. Thanks to all of our friendly staff at both properties, who always treat us as royalty, always providing us with cherished privacy, simply awesome unforgetible dining treats, great tropical drinks, and SO much more, GOD willing we will be back again.
