VILLA MARA REVIEW

5 of 5
Our family of 19 (10 adults & 9 Children the youngest being 10 months and the oldest being 14) had a wonderful two week vacation at Villa Mara in Mammee Bay near Ocho Rios located on the North Coast of Jamaica. Villa Mara is exquisite and absolutely beautiful. It is well laid out and ideal for large families. All the bedrooms were extremely comfortable and located so that there is plenty of privacy. The bathrooms were modern and well equipped. Having one room available that sleeps six was ideal for our six grand daughters. The outdoor layout of the Villa made for a very relaxing two weeks, a very nice tennis court and basket ball hoop was well utilized by the younger adults. The covered lanai and extensive enclosed patio surrounding the pool suited our large group and we also enjoyed having our delicious meals in this covered area. Having the bar and refreshment also located in this area made it very convenient. The cushioned lounge chairs on the lawn between the beach and Villa set up under a large natural umbrella almond shade tree together with a cool ocean breeze provided a very relaxing atmosphere for reading or sometimes taking a “snooze”. The private white sand beach provided great snorkeling and swimming. Before dinner we enjoyed cocktails on the second floor verandah overlooking the pool and beach, enhanced by a nice ocean breeze. Mammee Bay is a gated community with 24 hour per day security. We went for walks in the evenings, some went jogging during the day and at no time was there ever the slightest concern for our safety. We have mentioned the physical property with all its charm and beauty. However with the contributions of a very dedicated, friendly and talented staff under the fine leadership of Miss Hazel our vacation was exceptional and “truly a dream come true” resulting in many “tears” on the morning of departure. On arrival we were greeted, introduced and welcomed by Miss Hazel and her entire staff. The meals and service for our two week stay were outstanding, with the presentation of each dish equivalent to or better than most highly rated restaurants in the Monterey/ Carmel area where we reside. Being Jamaican by birth most of our menu comprised of local dishes gracefully presented and very delicious. The Villa was always spotless; laundry was done daily and returned to the respective rooms. We highly recommend Villa Mara for a family vacation it will live up to or exceed all your expectations of a get away in “A Jamaican Paradise"

AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE WORTHY OF 10 STARS !!!!!!

5 of 5
We stayed at Villa Loujo in April and words cannot express the wonderful time we had during our stay. The owner, Mr. Louie, made sure all of our needs were met. The food was delicious, our thanks to the cook. The staff made us feel as if we were at home. Samantha, served our meals and our place settings made us feel as if we were dining in a 5 star restaurant. The photos do not give justice to this place. As it was a group of women, Raymond, accompanied us out at night and made sure we were well taken care of and transportation was available upon request. Initially, I was apprehensive as this was our first villa experience, but from the initial conversation with one of the owners, Josie, she answered all of our questions and made us feel at ease. She was always available for all of our questions and the response time was usually within a few hours. I would recommend this villa to anyone who wants the ability to be on vacation and feel relaxed as if you are at home with someone catering to your needs. We enjoyed breakfast every morning in the gazebo by the pool. We even had the staff cater a small party for a group of friends. You will not be disappointed as we have been telling all of our friends about this villa and our wonderful stay. The views of the ocean were awesome. My only regret was leaving to return home. During my next trip to Ocho, we will definitely stay at Villa Loujo again. The only decision was deciding was we wanted to eat for breakfast and dinner each day. Villa Loujo has now set a standard for our future vacations and we will accept nothing less than our experience with Villa Loujo. Josie and Louie, you are the BEST !!!!

GREAT PLACE TO STAY

5 of 5
We had a wonderful time at the Ocean View Villa. The staff was incredible, keeping the place spotlessly clean. Millie (head of the household) was an amazing cook and kept our bellies very happy with mostly Jamaican dishes (oxtail, curry goat, fried dumplings, callaloo, lobster, rum punch, yum!). Her brown stew chicken is the best ever! But she'll make whatever you want, and is willing to try new dishes with a little instruction (for instance, French toast for breakfast). The included van and driver was great. Our driver, Steve, was a wonderful tour guide, we would just tell him what we wanted to do the next day, and he would arrange everything for us. Plus, he was a careful driver (by Jamaican standards, anyway), and I didn't fear for my life while on the road. :) The villa itself is in a small neighborhood at the top of a cliff, with a set of stairs down to the pebbly beach. You have to walk about 1 block to the top of the stairs, then climb down a long set of wide concrete steps. The beach isn't great for lounging, but there is a small stream that enters the ocean, creating a small brackish lagoon that is good for kids to swim in. The ocean has pretty good sized breakers and fairly strong current, so is only advisable for strong swimmers. Sunrise at the beach is nice though. Overall, we had a great experience, and this place is highly recommended!
