EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS

4 of 5
Our group included my Mother (83), myself and husband, our three daughters (35, 33, 30) and our two grandchildren (3 & 1). We were so excited when we saw the villa with it's wide open common area, fantastic wrap around terrace with spectacular views both sunny and sunset, the perfect set up so that everyone had their private space and the great little pool. The house had everything we could have wanted and the staff, Sharon, Jermain and Elvis, the chef couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. Jermain became part of the family, watching cartoons with the kids, learning new games with us or just sharing an early morning coffee. Sharon kept the place spotless and was so sweet with all of us, especially our grandson, Ben. Elvis was a miracle worker. He seemed to be able to use anything he could find in the cupboard or fridge to create delicious and beautifully presented meals. Sharon brought us freshly caught fish and lobster , bought early in the morning from the returning fishermen. Some things you should know when renting this villa: 1. The beach that we went to every day was called Sand-Sand beach and it was not one of the beaches listed on the information provided by the villa. You could walk there in about 25 minutes but we took a taxi there and back. We definately overpaid for the taxi ($50.00 there and back but it was a 7 minutes cab ride at most). Go there but ask Sharon to get a taxi for you. The beach is part of the Sandals Whitehouse beach and it is deserted and gorgeous. 2. Walking to town was possible if you are quite fit. There is nothing much in town except some bars and a convenience store. The walk back up the hill is quite strenuous. 3. Everything you could possibly need was supplied with the villa but we did find that the coffee maker took 20 minutes to brew a pot of coffee and the four slice toaster was broken. There was not one sharp knife or paring knife in the drawer. When we arrived the 2nd fridge wasn't working but once we told Marcia, the property manager it was fixed later that day. 4. The ride from Montego Bay airport is very rough and takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Micheal, our driver was really great and even bought us some jerk chicken from a road stand that he said was the best in the area. My daughters had both brought car seats from home but the van had no seat belts so the car seats were useless and we felt a little nervous of the bad roads and crazy drivers with no one strapped in.

Wonderful Vacation

5 of 5
We arrived 2/15/15 and was greeted at the airport by Angie, the Manager. Since we were worried about what we had read about renting a car in Jamaica Vinroy Paul, the owner offered to rent to us without all the additional fees and hassle. Every step of the way he was amazing!! He answered every question we had and always promptly and kind. No matter how many questions we had, he never seemed to mind. He even gave me his cell phone number so I could text him. Since we were traveling with another couple and he didn't think we could fit everyone and our luggage into the rental car we arranged for a private shuttle car to pick them up to follow us (the manager was to pick us up at the airport because we read that it was advisable not to drive too far alone as a tourist) to the villa. My husband and I arrived at 11am and our companions arrived at 2pm. Angie was there and waiting for us at 11am sharp. Since we had some time to kill while waiting for our companions to arrive, they took us to the grocery store. The owner told us about an app to use for texting internationally and we downloaded it an added them both. Angie sent us a picture of herself so we knew who to look for. When we met her outside, to our surprise there was a van so that we could all ride together. What a wonderful surprise that was! They brought us to the grocery store, came in with us and guided us through the store helping us with suggestions and even loading our groceries for us. They then brought us back to the airport to meet our travel companions. We had a wonderful ride to the villa with good conversation and suggestions of places to visit. When we arrived, they helped us with our luggage and when we entered there was a bottle of champagne welcoming us (it was our anniversary). We insisted that they join us for a toast to start our vacation off right. Angie showed us around and made sure we had everything we needed before they left. The house was beautiful and we loved it; however, when the ice maker didn't work we told Angie and she sent someone over right away. The owner checked in on us upon arrival and a few days in to make sure everything was going ok and that we had everything we needed. If we told him that anything wasn't perfect, he took care of it immediately!!! By immediately, I mean while he was texting me, he was forwarding the messages to Angie making sure she was aware. He was simply amazing!!! Thank you for a wonderful trip AND for being SO caring!!

A well designed home in Paradise

5 of 5
This is a very well designed home, well ventilated, cozy, comfortable indoor spaces as well as a huge porch for playing dominoes and sipping an ice cold Red Stripe. The kitchen is well equipped and the bedrooms are all nicely sized with their own bathrooms and really comfy new beds. It's everything it is advertised as and much more. The staff, Monica and Trudy, and owners Paolo and Tia, is what keeps us coming back to Treasure Beach. Their warmth and friendliness is what you will find everywhere you go. Their delicious meals are prepared twice a day and customized to your taste. Lobster, curried shrimp, jerk chicken and ackee for breakfast. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! Monica and Trudy were even thoughtful enough to serve us a romantic candlelight dinner the night before our friends arrived. Thanks girls! This home is very affordable, especially if you bring some friends. Paolo lives next door and can answer any questions you might have about the area. He greeted us with a nice gift of homemade soap and even brought over a freshly baked loaf of bread. Some days we were even treated to fresh coconuts. We couldn't recommend Villa Optima enough and we will be back, it sits in front of the best swimming cove in the area and close to everything, which (this is why we like Treasure Beach) is not touristy. If you are looking for a truly laid back vacation, this is it. It's easier than you think, they'll pick you up at the airport and spoil you for as many days as you can get away, take a couple extra days, you won't be sorry. Soon Back
